Sears Castle Toy Kidz Beat Lightup Marching Drum.

Picked it up totally by chance today as my wife and I were dropping recycling off. We took a quick look in their store just to see what they had and I spotted this right away. For $1 ......you can't NOT buy it for a buck.

It has four lights that rotate in a circle off and on - uses two double A's and has durable almost Fisher-Price-like heads. There's an on/off switch (little red button) on top there. I'm venturing into electronic drums now.

It will look good on a tom at Christmas don't ya think?

I don't intend to record with it.....unless Animal calls me up and wants to jam with my Noble and Cooley kit - then I may add it on as a third tom.

    Don't get geleous..............

Kona, that drum will sound better once you replace the stock head. I recommend a coated G1 and it will sing. Oh and the floating lugs looks great!

Gary, I think Pearl is quaking in their boots! I'll bet they're taking notes and figuring out how to revamp their Free Floating snares right now!

    $1? That's just a cool buy!

Yeah Pastor Bob, I suppose they do look huge, but that is just my fancy camera work. All of my sticks are Promark 5A's. I was using the naturals in hickory for awhile, but they just don't hold up very well. I find that the tips come apart and split rather easily. I have been changing over to the Shira Kashi Oak sticks. They seem to last alot longer, and have a little more stick definition.

Thought it was time I fished out the ol' Rototom set from the mid 90's, lol.

    Awesome looking kits everyone!

It's more of a spread out "thud" sound than a focused punch. It works really well on huge rock backbeats, and handles straight ahead jazz gigs as well. I will have a hard time using anything else in the future.

I want to try those. They look cool. I don't know that they will serve me well playing heavy music though. What do they run as far as price?

About $20. I wouldn't discount this for heavy music. It's lack of weight may improve your speed noticeably.

That's a really nice kit JayW! My kit was originally going to be that color but my local dealer gave me a cheaper price for an amber kit that was in his shop already.

Jay, Chris & Drumbledore - beautiful drums

I love checking into this site - I always see stuff that makes my day a little brighter.

And Shaneroney - I love that big fuzzy BEATER. I had one years and years ago and do not know where it got to - I think it was lambs-wool if I remember correctly. I will have to get another because it will be so sweet to use one again....very nice!
