AND I CONFESS I'M A DRUMGEAR-A-HOLIC
I am really reluctant to take my nice Yamaha kit out in the burning sun every week all summer, so I decided to get my Pearl VSX kit back in working order. I will probably use my new Saluda plates on this house gig (on a deck at a bar on a lake, every Sunday afternoon for the duration). More than likely, my copper snare will come with me, but the Acrolite looks cool with this setup. This is my bare minimum these days.
I also only have one EMAD batter, hence the stock head. This will be a good chance to try out the new Powerstroke Pro as soon as they are available.
Those Pearls are sweet. What year are they? That finish looks circa 1965!!
I want your Ludwig snare, too. That is an awesome instrument. If your gonna have a metal snare...
I have never heard the Saluda cymbals, but the uniform appearance is really classy in the photo. Nice choices.
Proudly playing:
Doc Sweeney Drums
A bunch of snares
A bunch of cymbals
Off-Set double pedals
I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!

I go to my local drum shop and purchase my sticks. I like to touch them before I buy them ;-)

Thanks. The Pearls were new last year (VSX Series). My goal was to get a traveling set that matched our song list, which is all 60s and 70s folk rock, without breaking the bank. Not bad for $500. The acrolite was given to me by the school where I have taught for the last 20 years. It was really grimy and foul, but cleaned up nicely.
You can check out the Saluda sound here:

There are 4 sound check vids there. Awesome stuff.

I about crapped when I went to Shoe Carnival and found that they were $40!!!! Seriously? It's just some rubber and canvas. They were only 19.95 when I was in high school and should be cheaper now IMO. I bought them anyway, but take better care of them than I might have.

Yeah, I gotta pay $80 NZD for my low top Chucks, and I also had to wait nearly 4 months to get my current pair, as there were no size 16 plain black and white Chucks in the country... I do agree though, they are the best drumming shoes ever. I suppose what you're really paying for is the name, not the build quality, because a pair only lasts me about a year or so before they're in tatters haha...
