Yeah, it's set up and plays like a 4-piece, with extra toms to the left for added effects.

Beautiful kit big meow. Is that two 12inch toms or is that a 14inch mounted on your bass drum?
I play, Gretsch Catalina Birch, 7 piece in the vintage sunburst finish.

Renown Cherry Bursts - Photo was with my cel phone, so it doesn't show color very well.

6" tom- it takes a little discipline to hit it consistently, yes. I try not to overuse it as well. Thinking about removing it - NO you can't have it!

Nice looking kits Grohl and drumbum91! It's all good if it keeps you playing!!

And Meow, Renowns are excellent drums, and I've seen that finish in person. It's beautiful. I don't see anything wrong with a 6" tom - I would probably get one if I could find one to match one of my kits. Great for special sounds! Hard to hit it? Nah, heck I play mini-timbales, so a 6" tom would be a piece of cake.

Well, i've been playing on the Simmons SD7K "e" kit for the past couple months. It's really a good kit to learn and practice on and was right up my alley price wise. I think one of the best parts of having this set is i can hook my ipod up to it and jam along or even plug it right into my pc and record. Sure i'd love to get a nice accoustic set or upgrade to a roland one day but atm it's a bit out of my budget.

Here's a couple pics of my current set up.

Begtimm561, I haven't had a chance to welcome you yet, so welcome to Drum Chat! It's hard to see your drums, but it looks like you've got a pretty complete set-up. Tell us what drums you're playing, the color, and about how long you've been playing. In short, tell us something about yourself, don't forget to ask any questions that you might have. There are plenty of seasoned drummers around here, and there are some of us not-so-seasoned drummers that still know a thing or 2.

Nice e-kit MS! You are right that I have the Simmons SD7K too. I actually picked it up with my daughter and her family in mind, since they loved playing my acoustic kit at New Year's. Until they're ready for it, I am enjoying the opportunity to play it too. Not a bad little kit at all!

BT, if you've not an expert at tuning, but want to learn more, Professor Sound's Drum Tuning Bible is an excellent resource. I learned a lot by reading through that site. Click on the 411 Drums icon at the top of the page, and then click on Lessons. After that, click on Tuning Drums and you'll find the Drum Tuning Bible listed. Just click on that and away you go.

Other than that, go to the Tuning / Care / Maintenance forum here and you'l find all kinds of god information.

Enjoy your kit, and the drumming journey!
