Saved up for a while and finally got this kit last week. Got it sounding really good. Only immediate upgrades needed are 2 crash cymbals (planning on 15" and 17" A series fast crashes), and a new snare (planning on used Ludwig 13" Piccolo.) Once I get those I'll be set!

    Welcome to Drum Chat MrClarkDrums!

Your pics didn't show up, so I fixed it for you. The link that you want from your photo hosting site is the "Direct Link."

I like the kit. Interesting that you went with the EC2's on the toms. I'm guessing you like more of a Rock sound, rather than a Jazz sound. Am I close?

    Again, welcome.

I like your older WMP Catalina Club, Pastor Bob. I have the newer version and although I like the inlayed hoops, those natural hoops look great too. There was someone selling the smaller sizes version of that kit in my area recently (in silver sparkle) and although I was tempted to get it 'cause they were sweet I figured I didn't need it so why bother. Kind of regret it!

Nice Mod, MrClarkDrums. I love Gretsch! Even the Asian stuff.

I was just going through the Pictures Of Beautifaul Drums thread and someone posted a Riolo kit.....That was where my snare came from that I won.

that was really bugging me that I couldn't remember it.

The other snare is one that I one that I won when a drum forum called Tightheads.org was around a number of years ago. Its a custom snare but I can't for the life of me remember the maker,

I miss Tightheads, was one of the best drum forums.

    Thanks for the welcomes everyone.

pastor_bob: Thanks for fixing that for me! It's interesting, I play all genres, and I kind of like to have a mixed sound as far as my drums go. Essentially I like my toms to sound like that, yes. But I like my snare to have a much funkier sound (hince why I'm trying to move away from that 14x6.5 to a nice piccolo ). As far as the kick drum goes. I like a very punchy sound I guess you could say. Nice kick heads, a porthole, muffling touching both heads inside of the drum filling about 1/6 the way from the bottom, and I use my beaters on the hard side (don't know the exact name haha.)

Russ: I play all genres, but yes, I do love jamming to old school hip hop tunes. Many of them are so simple. I love how much room they allow for being creative! I just need to get that piccolo snare before I can really get into that again tho. Sold my old piccolo and I highly regret it.

Drumdevil: Thanks! I know it's not the best kit in the world, but with nice heads and being tuned well, I feel i've really got them sounding great.

I always like the various striped kits Gretsch had in the Catalina line. I'm loving that black on silver. Nice choice.

I know I posted pics just a few pages ago, but no one has ever complained of too many pics around here, so...

I think I'll be running a 5 piece for a while with my Crush kit. I just received a cool Jungle Crash from Saluda on Friday and I had no gig last weekend, so I set everything up for video and took a few good shots while I was at it.

My RMIF(Rigas Music Instrument Fabric) they were popular when we were occupied by russians. They stayed in garage for about a year ((while i was in band where played Sonor 3007) Project ended, because the guitarist, who owned all the gear, said that he has some other stuff to do). So the time to repair my drums was come so here is the results. Painted, put some "so called New" skins. 22" bass 13" tom 16" flor tom, 14" PDP cx maple snare.

Ok, now try to contain your jealous rage. These are probably the most awesome drums on this site. Behold!! Be sure to check out my killer throne. I got that out of the trash about 7 years ago. I used to use it in my garage. Oh, and I can't forget to mention my floor tom riser. Pretty sweet, eh?

First Peavey kit i've ever seen, and it looks really playable from those pics. Loving the size of the room, nice and wide open - should have plenty of room to "breathe" and project. Wish my drumroom was that big!

I'm very impressed with the way it sounds. I tried with and without moongel. Sounds great either way, but decided it wasn't necessary once I figured out how to tune it properly. It's different sounding than my DW, but I love the tone all the same. This may be my gig kit, but I'll be extra careful with it. All I need now is to find the matching stave snare that goes with it. That won't be easy though.
