I personally like them, I have set of the Aquarian rings that I use as well.. the RemO's do choke the drum a little more but I usually decide which ones to use depending on a gig setting. But I've also used both just to get a certain tone out of the toms.

Sooo....I've been on this forum for quite a while now, and have always proclaimed myself as a "Pearl snob". Well, not any longer. I just received my first DW custom kit and I am in absolute love!

Very nice. Looks like a mile from the hanging tom to the floor tom. Any trouble getting back and forth? Maybe its just the camera angle.

    Rob,

Your kit is great! Really beautiful! It's got a lot more 'wow factor' than my cherry kit. that's for sure.

    http://www.drumchat.com/showthread.p...ian+vault+edge

The above link shows my of my snare drums (about 1/4 way down the page), in fact, it is the first drum I ever owned. It's a DW Sabian Vault Edge snare. I've had two offers to purchase it for more than I paid for it, but it is simply too good of a drum, the sound is so good, that I can't imagine finding another that will sound even close to that tone, much less match it. I don't know if all DW Edge snare sound like this thing, but if they sound even close, I can recommend the edge snares with no reservation at all.

Love the gong you have...and if I played out, I'd love to have one!

Ah the classic double kick setup. Huge stands, huge cymbals, huge kit! Beautiful. Reminds me of Palmer's kit with that huge gong behind you.

    Friends,

That is a very nice snare. I am a total DW fanboy. I have a few good friends that work there, and it is 10 minutes from my house. They have been very nice to me, and I love my kit. I am a bit challenged with the direct drive pedals though and waiting on a set of chain drive. I was playing a 9000 series wth no problems but the direct drive are so damn perfect, I am not sure my caveman playing style suits them.

Carl Palmer had 2 big gongs, mine is small but means allot. If you go to my facebook page I have some old pics of me and Rush back in the days.

I always loved chrome shiny sets, I think I had a least 3 the ss ludwig the very best though. They were light, strong and very good looking. I remember a guy backing into a bass drum once and it did not even leave a dent just a small scratch!!!!

I was interested in the oak shells as it has a very big sound which I was looking for. Just got back from practice, the stacks keep getting bigger and my drums have to keep up!!! HAAA

Very cool Princesite! Spazapproved, To be honest I am not that great of a drummer and the direct drives are so responsive, they do not fit my caveman style playing. I am using a set of the DW9000's until the chain drive machined model is available. For some reason the chain fits my style better, not sure why. The oak shells sound really good. Of course i grew up on 2 speed kings! HA

And here is my 1965 Slingerland Gene Krupa kit at a gig last month. This shot gives a good view of the microphone setup. I have a Shure Beta 52 mounted on a Kelly Shu mount inside my DWs. Here I used an AKG D112 to good results.
