For me, it was probably singles between the hands and feet. Seemed like it took me forever!

When I started playing country, for a while. After playing rock it was hard to get that swing feel.

This is just my own observations over a lot of years.

Sometimes we are our own worst enemies when it comes to various things we want to do on the drums.
If 1 thinks something is hard, consciously or unconsciously, we will make it hard.

Tom, leave the sticks. You aren't going to forget how to play in a couple of weeks.

I hear ya man. I overplayed for the longest time. Of recent, this bass player said to me, "Hey Tom, you've got all those chops, how come you don't use them more?" I said, "Because we're playing dance music. I play for the song now." Most cover bands want solid time more than fills.

Playing singles between the hands and feet is simple, it's the thinking about it that makes it hard.
