Nice set up. I understand your wanting to upgrade the cymbals, but you do have a very nice kit there.

Yeah, it is kind of a man cave. Next to the drums there are some guitars and amps, and on the other side of that a rack cabinet full of computer and network gear. So it's kind of a man geek cave if nothing else.

Thanks for the compliments. I am happy overall with the kit, and the shells are definitely better than the Exports that I had before my drumming sabbatical began in '99. I'm trying to keep the cymbal thing in perspective since I've only been playing again for a few months now. It took me many years to build up my collection before, and what I have now is definitely better than what I started with way back in the early 80's. But still, having experienced nice cymbals makes it tough to settle for these B8s now.

This is my PDP CX series kit. It's not even close to being completed yet, but it will do nicely for now. I'd like to pick up a 16" floor tom, a better snare drum, replace the ride, hats and 14" crash, add a 16" El Sabor crash/ride and 20-22" Wuhan china and 8" splash.

Nice kit, man! Is that an AAXplosion I see? Hard to tell because of the blur but it looks like it has a raw bell....

Wow! I love the look of small kits with tons of cymbals. That's officially one of my favorite setups on the board now.

SGD - Nice tour. Does your floor tom sound that good in person?

I agree on the Rock Hearos. I just need to pick up spares because I know I'm gonna lose one of those blue inserts.

As a side note, you should consider a career in broadcasting. I could totally hear your voice on the evening news.

Dang, I like everything on this page. SGD, if you cut your racktom holder you can get it in more positions. If you ever decided to later I mean.

Better in person, I'd say. I need to re-tune the rack toms a bit, but that floor tom is just gorgeous. Those Onyx heads thrive at lower pitches, and what I'd done was tune the floor/high tom and octave apart with the mid tom at I -believe- a major fifth, which sounds kinda cool but doesn't work so well for most playing.

And thanks! I'd love to do broadcasting of SOME kind. My degrees are in English and Political Science, so I've definitely considered it.

You're 100% right there, Russ. Although what I'm PROBABLY going to do is pick up a pair of single tom holders, that way I can move the pair of them completely independently of one another.

Another thought! I really think we should have a "best of DC" contest. I'll start it if no one has any objections. Basically users can nominate kits and we'll have a few rounds of voting. All in good fun, nothing serious.

Split it up into categories: best small kit, most elaborate, best e-kit, best kit on a budget (submissions have to explain cost), etc.
