sheoth, congrats on the new additions! I got an EFX cymbal too, and I really like that it is a little trashy, and yet still very musical. The new minimalist set up looks great.

thanks PB the only thing i've found with the EFX is that it has a extremely long decay time on it.

Xsabers, have you tried using mallats to play that new BD conversion? I would imagine that would almost give you a small tympany sound.
Enjoy the Music!

yeah i found that out the hard way in our songs when i first got it. tried to play it quite a bit when im on the ride and it just overpowered the groove so i decided to only use it every now and again after some words off the other band members who were like the first time i hit it in the chorus but it does sound nice when played sparingly. i usually use it to end a song on aswell

Yeah, I fell in love with it at first too. As long as you have the room for the decay, it is great. The end of a song can be a great place for it, but it is definitely a specialty cymbal, so it even needs the right song for it to provide the ending sound. I do recommend having it available though, if you like having a variety of sounds.

yeah i need a cowbell holder for my cowbell now :D but it seems to work well for ending heavy rock to heavy metal songs :D i havent tried it on a lot of others yet :D

Sweet Sheoth! Very nice progression! I like the fact you can watch TV while you rock too! :P

haha yeah i take over the front room so playing time with my acoustic kit is very limited thats why i got the silent kit cos its small

That last profile shot really shows that finish. I bet it looks even better under stage lights. Love the 2-up 2-down, too. Classy, beautiful kit.
Great choice.
Proudly playing:
Doc Sweeney Drums
A bunch of snares
A bunch of cymbals
Off-Set double pedals
I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!
Trying and liking a new configuration.
I just bought my first cymbal! (the sabian a friend left at my house several years ago..so it doesn't technically belong to me..)
Zildjian 16" A custom. Love it. I've wanted that cymbal for ever!
Here are my 100% Birch Starclassics with my new crash!
Next on my list:
New drumheads (Within a couple weeks)
GOOD bass drum pedal (within the next 2-6 months hopefully)
Ride cymbal (If I get a real job with consistent pay, this will come as soon as the pedal hopefully)
Bass drum hoop replacement (I took it across the country for WGI world championships and it got knocked around a bit..idk if they will custom make a hoop for me though)
Drums:
Ludwig Classic Maple
Tama Starclassic Performer
Cymbals:
20" K ride
20" K custom dry ride
16" A custom crash
14" New Beat hats
14" K custom dark crash

Congrats on the new cymbal Mike L! When I upgraded from my ZBT's, the first cymbal I bought was a 16" A Custom Crash, so I have a pretty good idea how you are feeling right now!
BTW, I also have an 18" A Custom Fast Crash now, and it is an awesome cymbal. You'll have to give it a try when you are ready.

Well if I can't get it to load on this thread, there's a pic of my kit on my profile. Kinda small pic, but you get the idea.
Started out as a low budget Garman Percussion, 5 piece kit, just to see if I stil had it. I added...
2nd bass, Pearl, 16X22
Toms, Pearls.... 12X10, 12X9, 2-13X11,
Starion Tom..8X8
Sabian B8-14" hats
Sabian B8 14" Thin Crash
Sabian B8 18" Crash/Ride
Sabian B8 Pro 10" China Splash (Love this little beauty)
Sabian B8 Pro 14" Thin Crash
Total of 7 toms
2 Bass
6 Cymbals plus hats
Lots of hardware, mounts stands, etc.
Any one using the hydraulic heads on their bass? Like to know a little bit about them. Trying to get rid of the pillow.
