sheoth, congrats on the new additions! I got an EFX cymbal too, and I really like that it is a little trashy, and yet still very musical. The new minimalist set up looks great.

thanks PB the only thing i've found with the EFX is that it has a extremely long decay time on it.

Xsabers, have you tried using mallats to play that new BD conversion? I would imagine that would almost give you a small tympany sound.

Very true sheoth. It's not really the thing you would play often, but in the right place, it's cool.

yeah i found that out the hard way in our songs when i first got it. tried to play it quite a bit when im on the ride and it just overpowered the groove so i decided to only use it every now and again after some words off the other band members who were like the first time i hit it in the chorus but it does sound nice when played sparingly. i usually use it to end a song on aswell

Yeah, I fell in love with it at first too. As long as you have the room for the decay, it is great. The end of a song can be a great place for it, but it is definitely a specialty cymbal, so it even needs the right song for it to provide the ending sound. I do recommend having it available though, if you like having a variety of sounds.

That last profile shot really shows that finish. I bet it looks even better under stage lights. Love the 2-up 2-down, too. Classy, beautiful kit.
    Great choice.
    Proudly playing:
    Doc Sweeney Drums
    A bunch of snares
    A bunch of cymbals

    Off-Set double pedals

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!

Congrats on the new cymbal Mike L! When I upgraded from my ZBT's, the first cymbal I bought was a 16" A Custom Crash, so I have a pretty good idea how you are feeling right now!

BTW, I also have an 18" A Custom Fast Crash now, and it is an awesome cymbal. You'll have to give it a try when you are ready.

Well if I can't get it to load on this thread, there's a pic of my kit on my profile. Kinda small pic, but you get the idea.
Started out as a low budget Garman Percussion, 5 piece kit, just to see if I stil had it. I added...
    2nd bass, Pearl, 16X22
    Toms, Pearls.... 12X10, 12X9, 2-13X11,
    Starion Tom..8X8
    Sabian B8-14" hats
    Sabian B8 14" Thin Crash
    Sabian B8 18" Crash/Ride
Sabian B8 Pro 10" China Splash (Love this little beauty)
Sabian B8 Pro 14" Thin Crash
    Total of 7 toms
    2 Bass
    6 Cymbals plus hats
Lots of hardware, mounts stands, etc.
Any one using the hydraulic heads on their bass? Like to know a little bit about them. Trying to get rid of the pillow.

Well placed mirror as well. A good way to work on your visual performance. I am trying to use video, but that is cumbersome and not instant like a mirror.
