Greetings gentlemen. I posted for quite a while here a few years back under a different name and I decided to rejoin you all. I am familiar with the culture, rules, and preferences and know that this is the place to start.
Here what I'm currently using.
Gig kit (cover band with female and male singers, playing pop, classic rock, and a little country)
Yamaha Stage Custom Birch, Natural, 10/12/16
Black Galaxy Acrolite Snare
PDP Concept Maple Snare
LP Raw Street Can (18")
Youtube video kit (anything and everything)
Yamaha Stage Custom Birch, Black 10/12/14/16
Usually with a Dave Weckl Signature snare (not pictured here)
Lifetime kit (for jazz and blues gigs)
Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute Nouveau, Sea Blue Fade, 10/12/14/20
Yamaha Copper Nouveau snare
I was a regular poster here several years ago and have decided to pick it up again. I know this is the place to make re-introductions, so here's what I'm playing these days:
Gig Kit - Yamaha Stage Custom Birch Natural 10/12/16/22
Ludwig Black Galaxy Acrolite
LP Raw Street Can 18"
PDP Concept Maple Side Snare
YouTube Video Kit - Yamaha Stage Custom Birch Black 10/12/14/16/22
Lifetime kit (used for jazz and blues gigs) - Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute Nouveau Sea Blue Fade 10/12/14/20
Copper Nouveau Snare
Hand Drum Setup - LP Matador Congas and Timbales
love that you're a Yamaha guy.
I love my Yamis
I've strayed a couple times and bought a couple of Gretsch Catalina kits and a couple Pearl Visions, but I have always returned.
I no longer have either of these, but they were my fist couple of Yamaha kits.
Recording Custom (Teal) 10/12/14/18
Beech Custom (Blueberry) 8/10/12/14/16/22 w/snare
I also have an early Dave Weckl signature snare and a Copper Nouveau snare, but strangely no pictures of them. I'll get on that...
My Crush Sublime Maple. Lovin' that kit!

Well, work finally took me to Memphis, which meant a trip to the Memphis Drum Shop. After getting to play a handful of beautiful snares, I decided to give this one a new home.

"Too many crappy used drum stuff to list"
Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!
"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham
Last weekend I sold 3 kits (Yamaha SCB, Crush Acrylic, and Pearl VSX) while I had a horrible flu, which made for an interesting time. I put a few bucks in the bank and added this beauty as my gigging kit.
DW Design Satin Black - 10/12/16/22/14 Snare. (+Yamaha Copper main snare and LP 18" Street Can)
