    Default TD15-K and Octapad

    HEllo all,

I'm am absolute newb to drumming and even more new to electric kits

So to start up, I've bought a TD15-K.. but I've heard some people that said, if I want to extend the kit I Should buy a Octapad..

This seems interesting to me.. because if I read it right, it adds another 4 pieces to the kit.. right..

If I buy the external triggers.. Or am I reading this wrong.. other than the looping, what are the advantages of to SPD-30...

Thanks for any info you can give..

the SPD 30 is awesome. But having a TD15 I dont think you need the spd30 unless you need to expand. And yes, this will give you 8 extra pads(that you can assign 16 sounds to, AND you'll have the ability to run 4 more dual zoned external pads.

I think the only thing you'll be gaining with the spd 30 is the phrase looper(which is alot of fun and very creative) and you can really get very crazy with the bass/synth/piano etc sounds. I dont know if the 15 has all those sounds.

Not sure if this is necro-ing or if it's against the rules, but I myself just got an Octapad for a few reasons. First, I'm studying some techniques that require more than my TD-15 can handle on the spot. I also got it because Phrogge strongly suggested it. And after forking out a good few hundred bucks for it (and it was still cheaper than what you'd usually find), I can see why.

I'm surprised Phrogge hasn't posted in this thread, because my guess is that he'd nearly hand you the money for it, but I'd say definitely go with it, if you need more than a 4-piece. It's 8 attatchments which can give you so much for a fairly cheaper price than what you'd get for Neil Peart's kit.

Yeah, whether you get the SPD-30, or the older SPD-20 or SPD-11 Octapad, with the eight pad surfaces built in and four external trigger ports, you'll have 12 extra sounds to play with.

Phroggie will tell you I sent him a bunch of videos on how to add triggers and edit sounds on his Octapad:
