Me and my band Blank Canvas (www.myspace.com/theblankcanvasband) are recording our first CD. We have small 8 track recorder which will take 5 mics. I've found away of micing up my kit so it all sounds good.

When we record we do it track by track and mix it all afterwards. (Soon we wil complete our first song, we have the music for 5 songs but the singer has gone on holiday!) I get a pretty good sound out of my kit but is there anywhere where I coud find a better sound without hiring out a recording studio?

the only way would be to either buy better microphones, or improve the acoustics in your recording room. You could go to home depot and buy foam board to put on the wall, or check out this site http://www.auralex.com/
