the less a man makes declarative statements, the less apt he is to look foolish in retrospect.

I had three computers - 2 laptops (one I was going to give to my mother because her's was stolen in a break-in), and a desktop. All three computers were hit with the same malware that Rick described. All three computers were protected by anti-virus programs, but I found out that an anti-malware software is also needed now. I stopped using my email provider after that, because that was the only common denominator between the different computers.

BTW, the laptop that I was giving to my mom to replace her stolen laptop was stolen on Christmas Eve of last year. Hackers and thieves are the same in my book. They operate solely for their own selfish reasons, and generally don't give their victims a second thought. I say "generally," because the thieves that hit my place on Christmas Eve stole some irreplaceable jewelry, but laid a large sterling silver cross necklace, that I received from my seminary when I graduated, on top of the dresser. I couldn't believe that I had been robbed by a thief with a smidge of a conscience.

Personally, I think hackers and thieves and anyone else who screws with other peoples lives should be shot.

That's what they seem to get. They are back on the street again in no time, doing it all over again.

Or maybe a rootkit is when I play only a snare, HH and BD. I think I like my second option better.

Both IPs trace back to somewhere in Russia. Two different hosts on the same network.
