For improved general coordination, I'd say spend some time practicing your rudiments. Play them just on just the snare at first, but once you get comfortable move around the kit.

Do this as often as possible, preferably with a metronome. "Coordination" won't come all at once, it will take lots of time and practice. Just keep at it and I promise you'll notice improvements!

I would add keep time with your feet(to a metronome beat) while playing rudiments. This allows your body to find a balance for implementing fills around the kit and teaches you how it feels to play two different drums at once. While playing a simple beat, ride different cymbals and toms to get comfortable playing and reaching for different parts of your kit.
But as Kazzy42 said, you have to know some rudiments otherwise you just make noise around your kit.

You probably mean the coordination between all of your limbs, right? Where rudiments will help with your hand coordination, it won't help with your feet much unless your doing a separate rudiment with your feet. Or even the same rudiment with your hands and feet at the same time,(pick one that makes sense), or the same rudiment first with your feet, then your hands. I like to pick a repetitive song like Iggy Pop's No Fun, or Candy or most any AC/DC tune. And practice that till it hurts. That way your practicing using all your limbs at the same time. Something rudiments don't always offer. Oh yeah, practice till you puke. Then practice some more. Welcome to DC.

I really like the approach of picking out one subdivision at a time and really nailing it down, like "New Breed" and "Language of Drumming" do. So, pick a rudiment or hand pattern, and underneath it on your feet (maybe on foot at a time) play the downbeats, then the "e", then the "and", then the "a", then groups of two sixteenth notes. Then do the whole thing again swung.

Practice, lessons, rudiments, practice, more practice and then more practice. Oh, I also want to mention practice.

Get some lessons, get some books, look on youtube, and practice. Then practice more.

Practice slow and controlled. Then practice slow and controlled some more. GRADUALLY speed things up when you are comfortable and making little or no mistakes at the slow tempo.

Switch hands. Example, if there is an exercise that leads with the right practice it with the right then, using the same exercise, lead with the left. Same with your feet.

Keep time with your feet when practicing rudiments with your hands. Play several bars with your left foot on the hh keeping time (wuarter notes) then do the same with the right foot.
