I am interested in making some drums by hand specifically for now a snare drums, the searches I've found have been useful but I'm not confident to start building, currently I'm looking at a Stave construction because it looks "easy", but I've found very little info on doing this has anyone here tried to do this. I'm not looking for a silly toddlers "drum" here I really want to make this sound good. Has anyone attempted to do this or can you point me in the right direction to do this?

Some good sites to check out are Ghost Note forums and Drum Town. (Just google them...as I don't know the rules regarding external links. Also, google "Pdgood" and the first result has all the information you need to get started.
All you need is a table saw and router and you're good to go.
Good luck.
