http://www.redskymary.com/ NOT MY BAND, JUST A GREAT LOCAL BAND WHO SHOULD BE SOOO MUCH BIGGER IMO
Not having actually seen it, I'd say that it's probably a fair to good deal with all the stuff that comes with it. The Pro Ms were good kits. Asside from some minor cosmetic differences, they're pretty much the same as the current meridian line. The only reason that I sold mine was because I found a great deal on a used Saturn shell pack.
Mmm... Saturns.
yeah, its maple, is that good?
i want a kit with a resonance not much attack, a lot of tone
I think that's a pretty good deal for £400. Have you seen it yet?
I have an M Birch & I love it. The pro M being maple should give you the sound you prefer.

If you haven't seen it how do you know what the mounts look like? I'm confused!
You should ask him to send you some pictures.

oh yes sorry i have 'seen' it with pictures and stuff, just not played it or seen it in the flesh
Well the pro M's are good, so it all depends on your gut instinct. It's a good deal, so really it's up to you & how much you want them.

Pro M where all maple. The price is reasonable depending on conditiont. Is it that far that you can't take a afternoon drive to meet with the man and try them out and visualy see them. This could be a better deal than you think. You won't know till you go there. Good luck.
mint condition, played once
oh and comes with cases
I believe the m series had basswood cores. The pro m I'm not sure about, but it is mostly maple. The info used to be on Wikipedia but they took that part down. Its hard to find info on old mapex kits. I have a 3rd Gen mars series which is maple with a mahogany core. Depending on how new the kit is (when it was made), it is almost the exact same thing as a meridian.
Mapex Saturn 6 pc
14x6 mapex stainless steel snare
Zildjian,Paiste, Meinl
DW5000 td4 double pedal
Back when the M line existed, it was a maple exterior ply, with basswood inner plies (7 or 8 total, I can't remember). Then there was the split to the M and Pro M lines. Around this time they also added the M birch line. The M remained the same, while the Pro M was constructed from 100% Asian maple shells as the Meridians still are today.
Mmm... Saturns.
If you want little attack and lots of tone youre going to want new heads immediately you need to factor that into the price youre willing to pay.
just as well he has fitted new evans heads then :D
but seriously guys, yay or nay
Yeah, Evans Hydraulics all attack little resonance. So youre going to want all new heads.
If it's in the condition that you describe, I'd jump on that in a minute at that price. That's just me though.

I had an M Birch for a long time and loved it.
That price sounds right to me.
Worst case you get there and decide they REALLY arent what you are looking for. Don't buy them just because you drive. Drive because you think you really want them.

I played a Pro M in a church for a couple years, they are good kits. Go for it mate!
ProMs are amazing kits, a lot of touring metal bands still play them.
