Whatever happened to Old Zealand?
So here in New Zealand, music is a big part of our culture, and May is NZ Music Month. It's a month-long promotion/celebration of local music, which is played all over TV and radio. I thought it would be cool to post a song from an NZ artist every day during May. We have a lot of fantastic music across all genres, so I'll be posting a lot of different stuff. I'm gonna start off with some...
Artist: Supergroove
Song: You Gotta Know

Supergrove is funky! dig'n it!
Supergroove! I almost forgot about these guys! A bassist mate of mine was right into them in the 90's, used to play their stuff a heckuva lot. Are they still around?
Oh for me I have NZ Music Month every day now....I told you I have Maori neighbours next door, right?

Damn, Strawpeople! I forgot they're from your part of the Tasman. Thanks for all these posts Zack.
Of course, a lot of us Aussies as well as you guys would remember this song from this band. Bit of a blast from the past. It's also a song I'm considering teaching someone soon. But what I forgot was that there was not only a former Split Enz member in it (Phil Judd, vocals and guitar) but a future Midnight Oiler as well! (Bones Hillman, bass)

Quite a while back I used to teach Jay, a Maori guy, reggae drums. He asked me if I knew of the band Herbs, which of course I had way back (in the 80's Dave Dobbyn had Herbs back him on "Slice Of Heaven", so I then started digging around for their stuff).....but then Jay handed me this song....had heard it before on a 'trade-tape' (remember those?), but trying to remember who it was. Forgot it was Herbs!
