    Default Cymbal Swipes.

    Hey all,

So I know I’m probably beating a dead horse talking about cymbal cleaning and I know that Cymbal Swipes have been brought up enough times on Drum Chat, but after hearing rave reviews from various members here, I purchased a container of them from Ebay. Tried em out on my Sabian Pro ride, which has a brilliant finish, and it cleaned it up pretty well, so I tried it on one of my Impressions, which has a traditional finish. That cymbal SHONE. Very, very impressed (sorry) with the results. I did have to avoid the labels though, as it did have an effect on them, which was a shame, but I am over the moon with the results on the Impression.

I too have them and they are lethal on your cymbals and hands. If you have cuts on your fingers or hands then use glove while handling the swipes.

They're great on heavy patina but I would only use them on very heavy patina'd cymbals. On the cymbals I've used this product on, it does have an adverse affect on the brilliant finish. (makes it dull).

Interesting. I've used the swipes on my cymbals since the day I bought them and they look as new and shiny as the day I brought them home 7 years ago. I've also had no issues with them effecting the logos. Are you using the type in the pic I posted above?

Yes. I should also not I was using them on cymbals manufactured by Paiste in the mid 90's and also on a Paiste Signature.

Not sure if brilliant finish formula has change when compared to todays brilliant finishes.
In short I only use this product if I come across a very dirty cymbal. Light, Soapy water for me mostly these days if I even need to clean.
