Yeah, I am not seeing how this works. Is the bass drum on the upbeats?

The George of the Jungle pattern would work for a song like Walking on Sunshine but American Girl has the syncopated bass drum pattern earlier in the phrase, right after the first snare hit.

OK. So it's killing me that it's taken this many pages to get this across. I've done the basic beat here with the transition then back to the basic beat. Taken on an iPhone so the quality sucks....I just woke up and have only had one cup of coffee so the tempo is a little variable........but you should be able to visualize this now......hope it helps.

Some songs are like that for people. They just rub us the wrong way, and we can't get them.

What you just did there, was to me, the best way to get it across. Good job!

sounds sorta right to me but need more accent on the snare but this could be a recording problem?https://soundcloud.com/frank-m-kulczak/am-girl-groove

Thanks bud, I think I got it down now, Almost to the point that I am a little embarrassed about creating this thread. I cannot tell if your playing 1/8's or 1/4's though. I guess it does not matter. Sort of sounds like your playing 1/8's and accenting the 1/4's but either way it works. I have played it at 2 gigs so far and had zero issues.

I just bought a new zoom h4n and will try to test it out with this soon. Thanks again

It's all good. This is a great place to seek advice and help. It would be sort of dead here if it wasn't for that. Playing 8th's on the HH. Snare on the "and". On the transition, 16th notes on the HH. Snare on 4.
