Yep. Gladly do it.

I know a lot of people wear famous bands shirts at gigs but do you or would you wear another local bands "T" shirt at a gig?
My band is a few people like me in their mid-40's average players at best who just play covers but I like to support the up and coming bands in the area.

I rarely wear t-shirts at gigs. If it was a casual gig then I'd wear a local band's t-shirt.
Yep I wear Tshirts from local bands at my own gigs.

as long as you dont wear your own bands shirt.

We do. I put one bands button on my shirt at one show. It's cool when you see them wearing your shirts too.

I play lead Drums
I've worn t-shirts from other bands I was in at the time at other gigs. For example, when I was in Band A and Band B, I'd wear Band B's t-shirt while playing a gig with Band A.
Confused? Me too.
Most definitely would
Absolutely.
Yeppers. What doesn't go over well is wearing another venue's t-shirt.
Wow, I'm totally 180* off on this thread! I'm all about supporting other local bands. In fact, I help several of them and promote an annual outdoor jam for just such purpose. We'll even announce their next appearances if it's at the same venue. But....I never thought about wearing one of their shirts during an actual gig.
The part about wearing your own bands shirt is funny.....because we have a local band that always wears MATCHING shirts with their bands name......AND, their own names on the front pocket. I always thought it looked really dorky, but I figured it was just me, LOL.

"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham
I'm almost 50.
I have long hair.
I play drums for a living.
I don't care what people think about my attire although I try not to be disrespectful.
I'll wear anyone's shirt...including one of my own band shirts if I choose too.
I quit trying to be everyone's definition of "cool" a long time ago. It's a nice place to be.

Practices are at my place and my cat is the 6th member (our opening song is even named after him). I can't bring him to gigs, so...
I wear a shirt that cat face prints all over it, the cat looks enough like mine, even it looks a bit like im wearing pajamas. The guitarist hates it, thinks I should be like him and wear band t's (which are typically white and black). BORING!!!
Plus, people, most importantly girls, always positively comment on it. The girls ask where they can get it. If I were ripped, I'd take it off and offer it to them (but I'd rather practice drums than get ripped).
I get not caring about being cool or not, but wearing your own band's t at your own gig is a bit conceited, even if it's meant ironically. Coordinating what you wear with the rest of the band does look cool, I was skeptical until I saw it (another thing the guitarist is against, he's the least fun in the band).
You guys in the states are lucky, making band shirts is relatively cheap, here it would be $20 a pop (about 4% of the average monthly salary here).

Wearing other bands' shirts? Nope. Just go generic. Don't want to confuse the locals. We have enough trouble advertising ourselves!
....And BTW printing T's is still more than $15@ around here.
I wear solid colored shirts at gigs. No ad space provided except for some sweat stains...
