Everybody from Janis Joplin to the Stones, Heart to the Go-Go's, Gene Krupa to Buddy Rich, to Louis Belson. Black Sabbath to ELP, to Jefferson Starship, to .38 Special Plus a lot I passed on, and a lot I went to because of girlfriends/wives.

I can go back further, to Palisades Park and Dion, the 4 Seasons, Neil Sedaka, Jay and the Americans, Timi Yuro, Martha and the Vandellas, Del Shannon, and whoever had a top 10 hit at the time.

I haven't seen to many big acts. Rush is the best I've been too. Most of the live music I go to is local bands. We have some really good original music in this part of Texas - and most are bands no one has heard of. I'm sure that's the case in many areas though.

List is too long. Been going to shows since 1974. Not too many lately though. Prices have gotten a bit out of hand. I remember in 1976, there was a show at the now torn down Capital Centre just outside of DC called 5 Bands for $5. The line up was:

    REO Speedwagon
    Rush
    BOC
    Ted Nugent
    Leslie West

Name a band that formed before the year 2000. I've probably seen them perform. It would actually be quicker for me to list who I haven't seen.

I lived about 10 minutes from a major music venue back east and pretty much had free access.

How did I leave Pearl Jam and RHCP off the list.

I've been to a lot of shows. Of all the bands I listen to it would be easier to list who I haven't seen, chief among them is Rage Against The Machine. I've never seen them and I wish I had.

But I dont go to many shows any more. Prices are getting out of line, drive is too far, and I'm ready to go home as soon as I get there.

    Way too many to list.
First concert I attended was the Cream Farewell Tour, Dallas, October 1968.
Of course, the drummer was Ginger Baker.
The very next month, somewhere on the SMU campus, I saw Jeff Beck.
He was supporting a new album called TRUTH.
The drummer on that tour was Micky Waller............the bass player was Ronnie Wood (yes, that Ronnie Wood) and the singer was this Brit we had never heard of named Rod Stewart.

In 1973-74, I was a pro-sound roadie so my list is long and would likely be incomplete..............that is in addition to all the other shows I've attended as an audience member.
I was extremely fortunate to see all the major acts (multiple times) of the supergroup 70s............looking back it was simply an amazing period for classic rock.

The most recent show I saw was Ringo's All Starr Band last July........in addition to Ringo, the drummer on this tour was Greg Bissonette.

RATM - Not a great stage performance but Tom Morello is a helluva good guitarist. (Tom- Trim your strings already, sheesh!)

I should list my favorite couple of shows:

1: Misfits 25th Anniversary show in NYC.
    2. PANTERA.
    3. AC/DC. INCREDIBLE show. August 2000. Went with my Dad who last saw them in 1981...right before I was born.

Those were definitely the best. I've seen a TON of shows. A7X was tremendous last year as well.

One that really stands out :

Out of the 15 times I've seen YES perform, one of the most memorable was at the Sandia Amphitheater in Albuquerque, N.M.

We were provided very comfortable beach chairs placed in front of the front row............bare feet in the soft grass and margarita in hand.

The opening act (if you can believe this) was Dream Theater.
They were at that time promoting their TRAIN OF THOUGHT release............below is their set list:

    Overture
    (orchestra-only edit)
    1. About to Crash
    2. Learning to Live
    3. Machine Messiah
    (Yes cover) (excerpt)
    4. Trial of Tears
    5. Stream of Consciousness
    6. The Spirit Carries On
    7. Solitary Shell
    8. About to Crash (Reprise)
    9. Losing Time/Grand Finale

Yes took the stage and played the following:

    The Firebird Suite
    (Igor Stravinsky song)
    1. Going for the One
    2. Sweet Dreams
    3. I've Seen All Good People
    4. America
    (Simon & Garfunkel cover)
    5. South Side of the Sky
    6. Yours Is No Disgrace
    7. Clap
    (Steve Howe solo)
    8. Long Distance Runaround
    9. Wonderous Stories
    10. Roundabout
    11. Owner of a Lonely Heart
    12. And You and I
    13. Awaken
    Encore:
    14. Every Little Thing

    Incredible experience.

A lot of the groups I saw between the '70's and the '90's, were not that good stage shows. They made mistakes, some of them a lot of mistakes for big name groups.

AC-DC puts on a good show. The Stones can get sloppy. Bob Seger can rock anyplace at any time.

Went to see Ratt years ago. I had no interest in them (supposedly they had a rehearsal studio in the same building as us. I never tried to find out, mainly because I could have cared less) but my GF liked them and got tickets.

Anybody who has ever seen them knows that their guitar player used to put spit on his finger and flick it into the crowd. They played a song that she really liked and pulled me down to get closer to the stage. The guitarist struts down to our end of the stage, puts some spit on his finger and gets ready to flick it. It would have gone in my general direction. I was watching him and we made eye contact and I said "Don't you freakin' dare", he couldn't hear me with the racket, but he read my lips enough that he didn't do it and walked down to the other end of the stage, and for the rest of the night, never came all the way down to where we were.

Hmm, this one won't be easy or complete, but I'll try.

I went to see the Yardbirds with my older sister, older brother and parents, I was about seven. At age twelve I saw Alice Cooper.

Then at age thirteen I started going to shows regularly, often with my older brother who is a guitarist and three years older than me. This would have been about 1972. I've been attending shows regularly ever since, and some of these artists I've seen a bunch of times. My taste runs all over the map, and this is in no particular order, in fact in no order at all...

I've seen and/or opened for a lot of Christian-based acts that many of you have probably never heard of, so I'm not going to bother with those.

    Otherwise, I've seen the following:

    Goldfinger
    Meat Beat Manifesto
    Josh Winx
    Crystal Method
    DJ Qbert

(as you can tell, I was into techno at the time)

I have never been to one of those big stadium-type shows where there are lawn seats or whatever. I've never seen a big-name act. I guess the closest I came was I was behind the stage when Brian Adams was playing a concert sometime in like 1993. That pretty much sums it up.
