Yikes, good idea
Hey everyone
so the title may seem a bit overkill but i was gigging on Saturday and the place was a bit of a hole, there was urine all over the floor in the toilet which i used a few times, i then played the gig and never gave it another thought, whilst playing at home last night i thought i best give them a wipe down.
i wonder how many different blokes wee stains i have on my pedals over the years, i sometimes play barefoot at home too

Yikes, good idea
I recently needed to fix my pedal and realized just how dirty they were. I cleaned them down and the results were mind blowing. Didn't realize how dirty they had gotten
Once a year when I go over the whole kit dusting, wiping etc.
Never have but I dang sure am now.
About once every 6 months my Iron Cobra spring starts to squeak. I spray the spring with WD40 then clean the whole pedal afterwards. Its surprising just how much dust, grit and general gunge can build up in the foot plate.
i'm the same as some of you guys too, never bothered to do it before but i'll give them a wipe over every month or so.

That restroom scenario is scary isn't it?
I found with playing outdoor gigs that the pedals get highly soiled with little rocks/gravel, mud that dried to dirt and a host of other unwanteds.
Keeping the pedals clean is just another form of maintenance.

Never thought of the filthy restroom scenario. I'm thinking now I should spray my pedals down with Lysol or some disinfectant. Don't forget the hi-hat too! Probably not a bad idea to keep a small package of Clorox wipes in your hardware bag.

"Too many crappy used drum stuff to list"
Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!
"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham
I vote that all this cleaning stuff should be done by our singers, since all they have to bring to gigs are a mic and a cable...seriously, we get none of the credit, all of the blame, but at least ours is the most fun to play!
