    Default in/cm

I looked at five companies to see what they use. Zildjian and Sabian calculate in's and cm's on their cymbals while Paiste, UFiP and Meinl do not as far as i can see.

Should both be stamped on all cymbals or just one or the other? I remember when the US tried to switch over to the metric system and it just didn't stick. I remember not liking the idea too much. I'm just too use to the Imperial system I guess

I think it's nice of the ones that do it but I also like the look of the Paiste's just putting 24" or 16" on theirs.

I've never paid attention to the Metrics... I've always just gone by inches myself. So I've never paid any attention to the details on the cymbals. I just know I want a specific size, I go by the inch, I buy it and then never think twice about it again lol

To help those who have a hard time figuring in/cm well here is the formula
    1 inch= 2.4 cm
I hate the metric system but we live in world where it is used a lot.

Inches vs centimeters. Isn't that the mistake that was made on one of the Mars rover mission?

As a reminder, these are the three countries who don't use the metric system: Liberia, Myanmar and of course, the United States of America.

Yep Slinky, I just noticed out of the four sets of cymbals, Paiste is the only line to ink the size by inches only. The Sabian HHX logo stands alone without any increments which looks the cleanest in my humble opinion

Thanks Rich I had forgotten that Sabian and Zildjian have both measures on their cymbals.

I've never even thought about it, I always check for inches anyway. Although I'm a little surprised that the European companies don't have metric listed also since it would be their primary measurement...

Metric aint as difficult as everyone makes it out. It's all based on tens.

    Money is metric

    10 pennies=1 dime...... 10 dimes= 1 dollar

    10 singles= 1x 10 dollar bill......10 x10 dollar bills = 1 100 bill

    get it?

No different than milimeters , centimeters, meters, kilometers

    all the best...

That surprises me, because Paiste is made in Europe...............while Zildjian and Sabian are both here in North America.............makes you wonder.

I agree, the HHX series, looks the "cleanest" of all of them.

Converting it is the hardest part if you don't have a calculator. I understand the metric and imperial separately but when you try to figure out how many cm in a foot, kilometers in a mile etc and vice versa. It is almost like trying to figure out how much a U.S dollar is in Canadian dollars, Euros, pounds etc. To me it is one or the other.

I think it was. Lockheed Martin and NASA were not on the same page with their measurements. The craft flew too low. Kind of an embarrassing mistake
