    That is a great read! I tell all my students as much as you hate fractions and math odd time signatures and fill and beats all use it! I'll print this off for my studio.

    I wonder if the fractal stuff comes from the drummer's playing or if humans enjoy hearing fractal patterns in sound.

    Ah, there's the rub!
    Happens to me all the time. I hear drum patterns no one else notices, even guitar patterns that fool me into thinking they are some weird creations that vanish as soon as the rest of the band joins in! I haven't figured out if it's a problem or a gift!
