Yes, Craigslist strikes again.

I spotted an ad on the local CL with the title "Cymbals" so I clicked on it. It had been posted 2 days ago. The ad said:

"We have a 14 inch Rude Paiste 100 Sound edge hi hat cymbal for $19.06 And a 22 inch Zildjan cymbal for $29.06."

Then I saw the picture, called to see if they were still there, and upon confirmation decided to make the 30 minute drive to a small town Pawn Shop to check it out.




What I ended up spending $31.10 on was a 20" Avedis Zildjian Ping Ride in Brilliant finish, shown after a Dawn and White Vinegar cleaning. Seems they didn't have a clue how to spell it, measure it, or what it was.

Any Zildjian under $50 is a steal...congrats! Looks like an '85 or newer. I probably would have grabbed that Paiste 1000 for that price too!

Most pawnshops around here think their drum stuff is worth 3x more than it is. Once in a while, you can get a good deal from places like Good Will or Salvation Army.

I know exactly what you mean. I do the same thing and there's always a whole lotta nothin'. The decent cymbals I ever do see are priced close to retail and the shops never want to negotiate price.

Here's a hint for you guys out here in the pawn shops... maybe if you want to move the merchandise, perhaps you could come down a couple bucks. You're still making money!!!
