Default Rubber grommet for Ludwig snare

    Greetings,
Looking to replace a rubber grommet that dried up, it's from a 1982/83 Ludwig supra-phonic snare, the strainer is either a P83 or P85 not sure, it fits on the adjustment screw to tighten or loosen the snares, the strainer has a black face with the Ludwig name on it, while taking it apart to clean, it just fell apart from age. Thank you for any information you can provide.

Sounds like your strainer is a P85, likely 70's or early 80's model given its black face. At some point, Ludwig added this grommet to keep the strainer from loosening after many reported incidents of this. I believe that they now use a spring for this purpose. Perhaps you can order the replacement part through a Ludwig dealer or find something similar at a local hardware store.

You're quite welcome Sir. If you are unable to find a suitable grommet, you can retrofit your P85 strainer with the spring ... either Ludwig Part Number P-2232 or something similar from the hardware store.
