Taye Studio Maple... Any fans?
I just recently acquired a Pewter Sparkle wrap Pearl Masters 6pc kit with fairly thick all maple shells. They have a nice booming tone with great projection. I've also always loved thin shells and I've had a thing for Taye maple shells. Today I walked into GC and saw a used Taye Studio Maple kit in Java Burst lacquer finish and it is literally in brand new condition. They also had a 5x14 matching studio maple snare with wood hoops. Those thin shells resonate and sing so well! The tone is so warm and fat. I returned the Pearl Masters kit and went with the Studio Maple, the matching snare and I got some money back. I couldn't be happier. 10x8.5,12x9,14x14, 16x16, 20x16... Pics to come once I fully set them up.
