As I've heard, they're made by turkish

They sound awesome! The F5 reminds me of my old medium Z-custom though a bit darker. The Q are even darker but nonetheless explosive sounding. They both have more than enough volume. Very musical but I wouldn't bring them to a jazz-gig.

Cool, have never heard of that company before, I guess they are only available in Europe?

You can get the handmade Turkish brands in the states, you just have to look hard.

I'm a bit torn as to how much I'd recommend them to someone in North America. I guess if you are looking for something different, and you find the right sound, then go for it. However, most of these companies don't have sound samples on their sites, and I really don't get how some of you buy cymbals without having tried that specific cymbal. Especially with handmade ones, you never know until you hear it for yourself.

In terms of price, it seems to me the handmade Turkish cymbals in America are the same, if not slightly more expensive than the major brands. I wouldn't say they are better.

Over here, they are about 20-30% cheaper than the major brands, so they are defo very good value for money. All my major brand cymbals except my crash ride I bought in the states, got my hats used for 100USD (which is a good deal over here) and I can honestly say if I don't crack them, I will probably use them for whatever gig I have the rest of my life.

I'm lucky to have a good friend in Istanbul, it's really an amazing city, I love it there, and am planning on going back in October. it's a bit like cymbal heaven

They are stunning looking cymbals. I hope they sound as good as they look, and not like the cymbal at the bottom of the first picture!

Those are my old, beat up Paiste 602 Soundwave hihats. Can you imagine, that broken and they still sound ok. I've had 'em since I was 18 or 19 (I'm 43 now).

As for the crashes, I love them. Especially the Q. Being a fan of the old Z-custom medium crash, I thought that I'd like the F5 more but the Q is just awesome.

I contacted Turkish and they do not make them. So I asked for more info from the thomann website.
Here's the info I received with links removed.

. We are the single entity which offers the Zultan cymbals. Because this cymbals are like a house brand. But you have to know that the cymbals will be made by hand from Turkey. You can order thin, medium, heavy cymbals in B20 bronze.

    medium series: rock beat.
    heavy series: dark matter.
    thin series.caz.
And if you want to play everything from pop/rock to jazz about hard rock I would recommend you an all-rounder, the CS series

I then inquired further asking about some of the other zultan cymbals and got this reply

Zultan F5-Series: heavy, dark/deep and thick cymbals with many overtones (hand hammered and brilliant finish). Zultan Q-Series: low, voluminous and dark sound because they are thinner and parts of the cymbal are untreated. Zultan Z-Series: thin - medium cymbal which is brilliant and quick response. Warm sound and a good mix between low to high sounds.

That's weird. If you look at turkish cymbals "rock beat RAW" you find the similarity with the F5 and their "Studio"-line equals the Q

I played the kit today and gues what I found on the cymbals? The turkish cymbals brand stamp on each of them. Also, I found this on the thomann site:

"Zultan 14" Q Series Hi-Hat, The ideal chick Cymbals with warmth, tone & power, limitless dynamics & excellent stick definition, the outer 2" circle of the top is deeply hammered, unlathed & left raw, The thomann remainder of the top surface is lathed & polished to a brilliant finish. The bell is raw with no visible hammer marks. The bottom of the Studio cymbals are lathed and brilliant throughout.100% handcrafted, produced from B-20 Bronce,"

The Zultan Q-series are Turkish Studio-series lookalikes
