WOW..............sometimes these lists are so warped.
I'm sure nobody could actually put one together that held much logic.
But given now that I've said that...................

Cobham and Colaiuta in the 40s............no way.
Paice and Helm are one rank number apart...............please !

Atleast when people say Travis Barker is awesome you can show them that Meg White is much better, hell even Tomas Haake barely beat her out...

They lost any credibility when they listed MEG WHITE.

Especially when they list her ahead of CINDY BLACKMAN.

    RUFKM ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Bird abuser. You know they read, right?

Weird thing and maybe it's just my current view but I put a period after the 'r' in abuser and it stuffed the period under the r. Now that's different.

well, I can't wait for someone to tell us, "meg white was in the top 100 drummers all time so she must be good" or "rs didn't even have a jazz drummer in their top 5 so it can't be hard".

My guess is they went with what they thought their readers (i.e. people who like music but don't make it) would like to see. I personally don't like The Who nor Rush, however, I think there is a world of difference between Moon and Peart (also, Peart never forgot how to play and used a HH like any good drummer does).

Lists like this all depend on the top 10. it's hard to argue the greatest X of any topic (greatest physicist, Newton or Einstein?), as you can find very strong arguments for each. However, the top 10 for drummers should have (in no particular order): Bohnam, Peart, Rich, Krupa, Williams...and so on.

Personally, I've never thought Ginger Baker was all that impressive, and while I am biased, I think Mitch Mitchell did more interesting things on the kit. For me, that is what it comes down to, as if you want to talk about pure ability, most of these guys are +/- the same level. So in the end, we should judge more on originality than anything else. That is usually how we judge painters and other artists from different media, I don't see why musicians should be any different...

Lists, lists and more lists, ad nauseum!

Only one drummer matters...his name is ME

I get your point about the top 10.
But this list is such a joke, the top 100 does not include Wackerman, or Portnoy.
In addition, Dream Theater auditioned seven of the World-best drummers (their title) for auditions to replace Portnoy and not one of them made this list from RS :
    Minneman -- Mangini -- Priester -- Wildoer -- Roddy -- Lang -- Donati.

I would suggest all of these guys should easily be in the top 50.

    BTW...................

In the photo of Carmen Appice, I see he is playing the same Ludwig concert toms (and with the exact same finish) that I bought in the 70s.

seriously as reasonable rational people, don't you ever tire of lists? it's not worth the emotional energy. NONE... ZERO.

    Move on!!!

I spent most of the week with Carmine at NAMM this year, our booths were next to each other.

I'm sure Carmine would tell you that he deserves to be higher on that list.

    100% sure of it.

The list was ok. Lot's of drummers I've never heard of. Would've been nice to see a few more names on it.
