As for drummers, do you have examples of heavy grooving on a simple bare-bone beat. The kind of extremely simple and common beat that sounds really groovy because dynamics, touch and rhythmic placements (like the backbeat behind the beat, light swing in hihat, or a certain "je ne sais quoi") ?
Led Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks
Paul Simon - 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover
Steely Dan - the entire Aja album
Porcupine Tree - Sound of Muzak

I could go on for days, but I have to get to work
    Proudly playing:
    Doc Sweeney Drums
    A bunch of snares
    A bunch of cymbals

    Off-Set double pedals

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!

Since I just recently became a drummer I listen to music in a whole new way, focusing on the drums which I never did before. Put on one of my favorite albums if all time "Music Of My Mind" by Stevie Wonder looking for new ideas, groove etc...ok I always new that the credits on that album list him as playing pretty much everything on that album, omg, if he did nothing else he could've been known as an awesome drummer. Listen the the foot work on the first track, "Love Having You Around". Unbelievable!
Enjoy the little things in life because one day you`ll look back and realize they were the big things.

Steve Gadd. I also really like Billy Ward, they are both very musical in my opinion.
