    Default anyone remember these?

Tama Swingstars from the 80's. There was another kit from Pearl I think that was wrapped in a deck of cards theme and I have been searching for a pic of those for awhile. I remember watching a guy play those around 88. Sorry the pics are so small can't seem to edit

I remember the Pearl "Rising Sun" kit that looked similar to the Tama kit:

I would say they look pretty darn close. Japanese flag one one but can't realy make out the other cause it is so small.

Yeah that's the name they seem to have taken on. If me memory serves correctly they were available in another color too. I've searched high and low for a pic of the deck of cards kit but can't find one anywhere. The 'Rising Sun' set is pretty cool.

found an old catalog that has better pics. I remember the Van Halen (Flash Point) striped sets but don't remember the Stage Animal one at all. I bought a shell pack of basic black Swingstars in 84 with the black T badge, they came with the white dot heads too.

I don't get the rising sun kit - that's the flag the Japanese Imperial Army used. Why? What's next the swastika kit and the commemorative Kim Jong-un kit?

Oh ya. I wanted the Japanese sun rise really bad. Now I see them and can't believe I liked them.

I kinda liked the Flash Point ones at the time. Themed wraps were just coming around in those days too so that may have been part of the attraction.

I bought all the budget Tama hardware. Stage Master stands and the Flexi Flyer pedal.
