    Default Direct-drive or not?

I'm in the market for a new doublepedal.
Should I stay with chain-drive or try direct-drive?
I generally play bluesbased hardrock/metal (and the occasional neoclassic doublebass fury).

This is my general view (I'm sure exceptions exist):
If you want speed and if you are using triggers, go direct.
If you want traditional power and you are not using triggers, go chain.

I tend to agree with Ricardo. The direct drive will be slightly more responsive, but for my needs, the difference isn't something that I require, so I'm very happy with my chain drive pedals.

Definitely one of those try - before - you - buy items.

I went to an Axis X single, had to switch out the beater and fiddle with it, but I'm glad I did. I like the utility of the design, makes it easier to care for (to me).
A simple, elegant design is good engineering.

I switched to axis pedal a few years back and love them.I occasionally play metal, but mostly hard rock. Going to direct drives really improved my playing. They are super responsive, but with some tinkering you can still get the power you would expect from a chain drive.I would recommend trying them out first if possible because they do feel different but I love direct pedals.
