Here is a really good in-depth (audio) interview with Paul Cooper -- he has been the plant manager at the Gretsch assembly facility since 1998 -- he is also a drummer and a Gretsch drum collector.

I met Mr. Cooper in July, 2015 when my wife and I received a personalized tour of the plant -- he was kind enough to spend an hour out of his day to show us the entire process and answer any questions along the way. On the day we were there, I was surprised to find only 13 people working in the shop............everything is still done by hand by well-trained craftsmen.

    Hey KG.......................

The drill press in the photo above has drilled every Gretsch USA Custom shell since (around) 1950.
This includes drums owned by Elvin, Charlie, Phil, Vinnie, and of course you, me and late8.
