    Default Allan Holdsworth

His family released that he died today at 70 years of age. Must have been sudden, I heard he was just on a mini tour with Virgil Donati. If any of you younger guys do not know who he was, many guitar legends like Eddie Van Halen, looked up to Holdsworth as the master.
Google up Metal Fatigue, this was the song that got me into his music back in the '80's.

Look in my eyes and you will satisfy yourself
So many lives I can describe
Look at the picture of the sanctifying light
    So many words to justify

How long? How long can this go on? How long?
    It's heavy metal fatigue.
    It's heavy metal fatigue.

Maybe the wind will dry your endless tears away
It's only the strong that can survive
Show me a river that's flowing to the sea
If you believe, then so do I

Hear me calling, I am falling, Throw the line
Hold me closer, so much closer, and I'll unwind

This is a shock...................I know a guy that just saw him two weeks ago.
I can't think of AH without immediately thinking of the first UK album (1978) with Bruford, Wetton and Jobson.
One of the most incredible prog-rock creations I've ever known...............listening to it now.

I saw that the family has started a Go Fund Me campaign . Apparently they need funds to properly bury him .
I always wonder what they do with their money . I for one have that part already taken care of . And I know from being on the road with certain agencies they require you to carry an insurance policy in case you pass somewhere on the road . At least one that covers the travel expenses to get your remains back home .
Personally I was never a fan . But every guitar player I have ever encountered was a BIG fan .
May he rest in peace ...

From what I gathered from interviews with other musicians he was pretty bitter with the music industry, and the fact that he was one of the worlds best, but did not make money like pop stars. And don't assume just because someone is famous and has made many records that they are financially secure. I can't name names but I know of some serious world class players who are borrowing money and selling instruments to get by. What's on the surface does not reflect reality quite often.
