I had a Samoyed when my girls were small. She followed them around like a mother hen.

Downside: Shed a ton. Average poop: Somewhere between a 14x10 and 15x12 tom. Average weight of said poop: approx. 4-5 lbs.

At least dog shaming is funny considering they don't have a clue and love their owners no matter what.

My wife gave me a card "from the dog" one year that said, "Happy birthday and I don't know anything about the poop in the kitchen." Still makes me laugh when I think about it. Don't know why dog poo humor is so funny.

It's not when you step in a pile, which I did about 10-12 years ago. I got out of my car, stepped in a pile and was in a hurry so I didn't realize it. Looked at the signs and saw that the next day was street sweeping day on the side that my car was on. Get back in my car, pull a u turn and park. Get out, run upstairs and into our apartment, sit down and start to make my phone call. Rosanne (my GF) walks into the living room looks at me and says, "what the hell did you step in". It was allergy season for me so I couldn't breathe through my nose (I know, gross), I look at my shoe and I still have 1/2 lb of poop on it. I had spread it on our carpet, the carpeting on the stairs, and, needless to say, in my car. Had to have 1 of those carpet cleaning companies come and clean the mess and I had to clean the floor in my car.

That was not a fun time in my life.

Although we've had to put down 3 of our dogs in the last year, we still have 6 dogs left. I spend a significant part of my life picking up dog poo. I could buy a new DW Collector kit every year with the money I spend on dog food....which gets converted to poo. For me, dog poo stopped being funny long ago.

Not sure I fully understand. Are you saying that your dog has pooped the equivalent of a DW kit? Probably the crappiest kit they make. I'm guessing a brown burst of some sort.

At least you had shoes on. I stepped in a pile one time barefoot. Let me tell you.... one of the worst feelings in the world is having dog crap squished between your toes. ::: shudder :::

Ha Ha Ha that reminds me of Jazz as a puppy she would eat her own poop. I would try to chase her away but she would come right back and eat it. I tried putting cayenne pepper on it and still no success lol. She's ok now probably got sick of the taste lol.

Yep, It can a nutrient or enzyme deficiency, or sign of medical issues, which can be solved. If it becomes a behavioral issue, it gets really hard to correct. Plus, other dogs will learn to do it as well. I quit taking our dogs to the Dog Park because other people don't pick up after their dog.

I hear you Brian. She did this mostly on our property not at a dog park. We live in the bush lol. Had her checked back then by the vet and she said the dog was very healthy, suggested the cayenne pepper and would grow out of it. Now every time she pees she turns and sniffs it but I do not think that there is something with that. Dog all have their own little character/behavior that seem odd to us but is normal to them just gotta understand them if that makes sense lol

Rick, I had a Samoyed in the mid-90s, and he was fabulous. I don't think he ever made a mess in the house.

My two Corgis are really good. The only time they have ever messed in the house has been because we (very, very, very) infrequently have left them alone too long. One of them did, however, piddle where I couldn't see it, and I slipped on the wet and broke my leg back in November. Not their fault, of course. I've learned that you gotta be careful walking on a tile floor!

Dogs are like guys. Not men, guys.

There's a great Dave Barry essay on Guys vs. Men. If you've never read Dave Barry, you're in for a treat. And if you get all the way through to the end, it even ties in with the dog thing we have going here:

I took our little (5Lbs) female Chihuahua to the Vet this morning. She has been suffering from occasional seizures for years, but they've gotten worse. She had one on the way to the Vet this morning. After I dropped her off, she had another one....a bad one that she never recovered from. This afternoon, she started showing signs of neurological damage and was semi-paralyzed. The Vet said it was due to brain swelling pinching her spine...and it would get worse. We made the decision to euthanize her at 5:00PM today. Not a good day.

Sorry to hear about your dog .
My oldest brother has a male Chihuahua who is in his senior years . He too has suffered seizures throughout the years .
I have a small cat cemetary in my backyard . Mostly feral cats that were living in the shed when I first moved in . I had fed and named them all . Occasionally they would let me pet them as they ate . But it's been years and the cats no longer come by since I started with the dog rescues .
Anyway...I will light a candle tonight for your pooch . It is the custom around here when we lose someone .

Sorry to hear that Brian. I have been through that too many times and I worry about having to deal with that with Frosty. She has a enlarged heart and has been on medication for 3 years. Usually by 2 years after diagnosis, the dog is dead. She is now 10 years old, and everyday when I get up, she's the 1st thing I look for because she could have a heart attack at any time and I look to make sure she's alright.

Thanks, guys. We've lost 5 other dogs in the last 10yrs (3 recently), but my wife is taking this one pretty hard. She was very attached to "Pixie". Pixie was rescued from a hoarder who literally kept her in a travel crate 24/7. There was 6" of "stuff" built up in the bottom of her crate. Exposure to the ammonia caused her severe respiratory damage and numerous medical issues. Also, she was a puppy mill dog, so her genetics were pretty bad. They didn't expect her to survive, but we took her home and cleaned her up. We had her almost 10yrs. She was our princess. She wore dresses and went for a walk with us every night in her stroller, LOL. She's the white one in front.

My aunt had a ****er spaniel named Pixie that went blind at about 7 years. I was probably about 8-9 years old so it was a long time ago.

The vet said to put her down but my aunt wouldn't/couldn't do that. Pixie adapted to the house and would run all over the place. The only thing we couldn't do was move any of the furniture.

She lived another 7 years and knew where every single thing in the house was.
