Default $1600 for signed Tool drumheads...seriously?

My coworker just went to see Tool last night. She told me at the merchandise booth, they had signed drumheads for $1600. I'm thinking - "that's ridiculous, who would pay that for a set of signed heads?" She then told me that was for EACH of the big ones (bass drums), and the tom heads were $600 each!!! I suppose something is ultimately worth whatever someone will pay for it, but that's just crazy. Thoughts?

    I wouldn't pay $6.00 for them. That's ridiculous.

I love his playing too, but I still wouldn't pay that much for a head even if it was signed by G-d himself! LOL!

Bands attempting to make a profit from merchandising (or at least to recoup some of the costs of touring) is fair game, but this is taking things too far, ripping off some sad fanboy for $1,600 for a drumhead is not even remotely reasonable (not my first choice of phrase) - I think the band are Tools

Somewhere in Taiwan, there's an old woman in a factory, with a black Sharpie, getting paid $1 per day for writing "T....O.....O......L" on a stack of new drum heads.

No way I would ever pay that much. However, if it were a signed bonham head, well we would have to see the price.

20 bucks seems reasonable. 1,600 however, it friggen' ridiculous.

N2Bluz is right about some worker somewhere writing that on the heads probably making a buck and a half a day.
