My biggest fear in life is that one day I will die and my wife will sell all of my drumming gear for the prices I told her I paid for it all.

My biggest fear is that, on the day I "buy the farm", your wife will come and sell all of my drums for $2.95 (plus sales tax).

Actually, on the day we die, the fear part will have moved on. I just hope that they have Johnny Walker in Hell. I DO NOT have any hopes for ice.

I have been thinking of going to confession: Bless me Father, for I have sinned, and sinned, and probably a couple of times more than that. It has been 57 years since my last confession. Pack a lunch and we'll order dinner from somewhere.

(16 months later) "OK Father, that brings us up to 1961, shall I go on". He is quietly sitting in the confessional trying to figure out how he can become a Rabbi while thinking that when he got "the calling", he should have never called back.

    C'est la vie!!! C'est quoi?

Don't worry. I can't keep a steady beat right now, and it's hasn't been much of a problem. My fear is my wife finding out how much drum stuff I actually own...while I'm still alive.

Biggest fear? When the day comes that I can't or don't want to play anymore.

G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) I promised the wife that I'd lay off flipping kits or buying drum stuff but I still scour CL and Ebay like I'm on a mission. It doesn't hurt to look around and it keeps my mind going in a positive direction. I live with chronic depression and drumming keeps me afloat.

    Agreed.
At every gig, I have a back-up snare drum, bass batter and bass pedal.
Any thing else that breaks, I can work around it until later.

The first show I ever played I forgot to tighten my bass drum beater. Halfway through the first song it flew off of my pedal. Now I'm always afraid of it happening again.

You're preaching to the choir, brother. Somehow I went from not owning any drums to having a room full of old mis-matched shells, cymbals, pedals and kits.

I always figured I could use the bass drum or tom resos as batters if needed.

In reality, I'm facing this scenario right now. I've been back on the island since late September and I haven't even set my drums back up yet.

LOL I am same way, wife shakes her head every time she catches me perusing cl, ebay or reverb for a new deal. But for a few instances I usually end up making money when I do flip so she does not get mad it just seems to amuse her. I have had my crush all birch floor tom for a while now not being used and I saw a pearl export for sale bass drum and 2 rack toms so of course it would only make sense to buy it so my floor tom now has a kit to play with : ) does not match color wise but for $100 why not?

I already hit my biggest fear and overcame it.
So I'm set for the rest of life...

Being told I'll never use my left arm ever again was the sum of all fears.
4 surgeries later with different specialist and I got to keep my arm and it works 65%

Your 65% left arm = 125% of my right arm

Keep at it. One day, everything will just fall into place. Don't worry about being fancy, just keeping a solid, basic groove.

Hands down it's leaving gear at home. Because it's happened a few times (one time I left the entire trapcase at home and the gig was 4 hours away!), I tend to get stressed out just a bit fearing that I will forget something. There's nothing more embarrassing than showing up without some of your drums or gear.

What about leaving gear at the gig? I always make one last "pass over" the stage with a flashlight. So far I've been lucky and haven't left anything behind.
I have, however, gotten home to unload late at night only to find an extra guitar or microphone stand in the truck, LOL.

I gotta agree with drummer, forgetting to bring something to a gig is a huge fear and I am stressed about it till I get all set up. Only things I have forgotten so far are a sweat towel, and a rug which turned out to be a real p.i.t.a. Not too long ago I was setting up at a gig and when I pulled my snare stand out it was snapped in half.. luckily my wife was coming and had not left the house yet so she grabbed my spare stand..
