Funny you should say that. I was just going to post something similar on the matter.

We've recently had some death metal heads join the forum. While it's great to have you guys here (and I really mean that), I don't want this forum used as a platform to promote the message of that music (evil, hate, death and destruction). Recently a few of you posted lyrics to some of the songs in the shoutbox. Look guys,... while you listen to this stuff all day and think nothing of it, I must remind you that much of the world deems those lyrics immoral and unnaceptable. While I won't go into debating everyone's perception of right and wrong, I'll simply remind you that there are warning labels on much of it for a reason. And for that same reason, the lyrics will not be posted here. This is a family-friendly forum and we're trying to keep it that way.

Drummer makes an excellent point. All of us here appreciate all of those who come here to hang and share their experience and knowledge. By the same token, we are also glad to be of whatever help and to offer advice on matters of drumming and gear. It's easy to get caught up in various venues of music and drumming. We all do. However, we often forget or overlook the obvious. To make it in this business, you have to go where the Money is. Most of the forum members know that I have a big band and some of them know that our female vocalist is Joey Jordison's (SlipKnot) grand mother. Kay is 72 and as eager as anybody to particpate actively. She and I talk a lot about Joey. She tells me where he's at, where he's been and when he's home. She even told me that he had asked if he could sit - in for me sometime. His dad played drums with a jazz band when Joey was a kid and he picked up a lot of that. Last week, she and talked about some of his interviews, the language and lyrics etc. She told me that he is acting up to the Media Hype that comes with this. He's really a decent guy and close to family. When the lights are on...it's time to "Act." My point is don't confuse Hype with Reality.
There's a lot to be said for Time Honored tradition and value.

I just wanted to say one thing that bothers me is when people come on this forum and start talking like "Hey guyz wat drum set do u guyz thinx iz da bestest becuz i wuz lookin 4 a knew kit dats reely kool. thanx every1."

That's fine if people want to talk like that when they're texting or posting comments on Youtube or whatever, but not on a forum.

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this but I was just puttin' it out there.

It's certainly annoying. If they want to be taken seriously in here, I recommend that they try to structure sentences a little better. Otherwise they come across as a lazy, 10 year old child.

    I totes agreez wit dis.

On the positive side, at least you know what level of intellect that poster is at and can choose to take them seriously or cast them off as not serious.

I hate to give away my secret but I learn to ignore those posts and move right on past. Makes browsing quicker, too.

i only just noticed this thread. it is funny that allot of the early posters for it are now banned - somewhat ironic really. of course they weren't banned for the reason behind this thread - at least not to my knowledge.

I gotta say - I didn't know that about franks band's lead singer - that is probably the coolest thing I have ever heard. Glad i'm over my JJ bashing phase. It's even better to hear that in a normal setting he is just a normal guy - not drinking pigs blood and sacrificing virgins like some of them youngsters nowadays

To be very clear, here. This has nothing to do with you. No fingers are pointed your direction from me. Matter of fact my fingers are wrapped around drums sticks or stuck to this keyboard.

When I started using the in-ter-net, I thought it was the cool accepted thing to do. If I'm in a hurry I might also type shorthand or sometimes to express my own accent.

    Just my 5 cents..
