Let's see if this works better. Ludwig Classic kit in a mohagony finish, snare is a deep blue finish.

Ya Know, I've never seen another kit that looks as Classic and Sexy as do the Ludwig Classics. There is something about those drums and you kit is simply astonishing to look at. I don't need to know about their sound...I own and play a 1964 set of Ludwig Classics, 3 ply Maple/Poplar in same size as yours except my bass is a 20" x 16" and I also have the 16' x 18" floor along side of the 16" x 16" floor tom. You can view it at Phrogge's post Any Ludwig Players Here?

Striking look. Just breath taking. I read that the finish is mohagony. Is that also the exterior wrap material. Doesn't look like a Maple or Oak Grain. Just love that wood's grain what ever it is. Did your refinish the kit? Looks brand new not over 10 years old

The finish is a mohagony stain over six ply maple shells. This is a Ludwig Classic kit, I'm not sure of the age of the kit, but I'm guessing about ten years old.

Na...not all Ludwigs have "the sound". They took a beating (n pun intended ...wel maybe just a little) in the 80's and 90's. Yours are quite nice and I like the fiber on the front...gives it that warm overall mysterious look! And the blond kick rim is just the right touch! I have a set of '63s but they are pretty torn up from the road. Nice looking kit!

Weren't you the one who posted this over at HC? It looks familiar...

Johnny, as I said before, nothing looks quite as fine as a vintage set of drums. I've posted several pics of my '64 Luddies but, since I'll be gigging again next week with the big band, will get some updated photos. BTW, Carmine is correct. Ludwigs lost a lot in their quality from the 80's and 90's. As a band director is early 70's, I bought Ludwig drums for the marching band...great looks and sound. In the mid 80's at another school, I bought Ludwigs and they were terrible! The hardware was cheap and failed to hold up and the sound was not at all what I knew Ludwigs to be. Offshore productions. Ludwigs are now coming back to their earlier traditions in looks and quality.
