    Default Pearl Master Series Drums

Today I traded in one of my other drumsets and picked up these.

And also some SKB cases for them.

Going to gig with them tonight and I'll let you know what I think.

    Wish me luck.

Well, no, but if you want to buy them I can put them up for sale.

Totti, the gig went great. Thank you for asking. We had a packed house all night and the peeps that have seen us before said we sounded better than ever. Maybe cuz we had a new sound guy tonight.

I had a blast and the drums are totally awesome.

It's 3:30 AM here and I'm going to try to get a few winks in. Or I'd be typing up a detailed gig report.

Well, I'm finally out of bed and up and at'm.

I got the drums hauled in from the truck and have them setup for tweaking. Picking them up yesterday and getting them gig ready was a hurried up process yesterday.

Today I'm going to go over everything completely. In the mean time. Here's some pix I just took to get you by.

[QUOTE=Bish;79542]I also picked up some cases for them, as well.

That reminds me... last Friday I had stopped by the drum studio to shoot the breeze with whoever might be there. One of the locals was there and we began talking about drum sizes. On display is a beautiful set of DW's with a 9X13 rack tom. I remarked that the drum is the same size as mine. One thing led to another and I asked why drums were sized as they were. My partner asked if I knew the story behind this and I replied that I didn't. He told me that in the early days of drum making a consideration had been how to pack and carry them. The answer was to buy hat boxes which were plentiful at the time. So, because of that, drums were made to fit the various sizes of hat boxes. I just thought that was interesting.

Thank you all for the compliments.

I haven't had much time to listen to them. I played them for 4 hours last night during the gig but really didn't "HEAR" them as I was just paying attention to my bands' performance. I didn't notice anything unusual or bad so I think they will work out. I will spend some time with them this week and maybe do a head change out to the infamous Remo Pins that I bought as a precaution. I did notice that if I tuned them up just a bit to sound like a matched kit and that's when you hear that awesome "stage" sound of maple.

That.... DOOooo sound. You know what I mean? The 14" and bass drum thud so there is no unpleasant sounds from them. I got a lot of compliments on them, too. When I took my Saturns out the only one that really said anything was the sound guy. Funny because he was saying how much better the ddrums sounded mic'd than the Saturns. So he noticed by ear.

We had a new sound guy last night and he didn't have any previous experience or knowledge with my other kits so he had no idea there were any issues. Apparently, there weren't cuz I didn't have to do a thing to them.

All in all, I'm very pleased but it's only been 24 hours. I won't really begin to appreciate or dislike them for at least a few weeks, minimum.

Hey, coke_can...You sure you don't want to take a another look at a set of setup ddrums and see if I can't interest you in a really nice kit for a very good price???

    Thanks!

The only real head I have experience with is the Aquarian SuperKick II. I recommend that so far for any bass drum I've owned. I just tried out a new Remo double pin and am not sure about it. Still kinda ringy so I need to experiment with that.

I'll get back with a final verdict in a few weeks.

I have never been a pearl fan really, no reason they just never appealed to me. But those are beautiful. My drums are red lacquer and they look spectacular on stage under lights. I can imagine that the Red sparkle on those look incredible as well. Are you happy with the way they sound?
