I use nylon tips. For drurability and (in my opinion) better sound.

I use wooden tips because it always seems like the nylon tips always fall off, and I really don't hear a difference on the drums but on the cymbals the nylon tips sound cleaner but i usually hit the cymbals with the shaft of the stick anyway. (Gives it a fuller sound.)

I like the wooden tips better. I think the nylon tips have their place, like when you want an especially defined ride cymbal ping on the bow, but overall, I personally like the more mellow sound of the wooden tip. It may well be that my choice simply reflects my musical taste.

I prefer nylon because they don't chip out and they articulate on my ride cymbal better.

Wood. I don't mind them chipping away, it's better than having all the force of the stroke traveling down the stick itself and ripping it apart. I'd much rather have one pair of sticks that are badly frayed and without heads than no sticks at all.

I vote nylon , I prefer the sound and response from the cymbals that I get from the nylon . To me its just a better "feel" .

I prefer nylon because they do not chip. When I used wood tip stick for 3 years about 27 years ago, yes we had drum sticks 27 years ago I would use clear finger nail polish on my tips when th lacquer would chip off. I found that Nylon gave me the sound I like without the maintenance.

Most of the time I use wood, but I do keep a set of Nylon tips in my bag because on some tunes I want the defined ping sound you get on a ride with Nylon tips.

Generally wood because I prefer the sound it produces when compared to plastic. I only use plastic when practicing some metal songs because the stick lasts longer.

I have never used nylon. I guess most drummers I know use wooden and it does sound good to me.
