    Default Earmuffs?

Well, I Play With Earmuffs now when I'm Not Practicing with the band, because i read in a magazine, a drummer lost all his hearing from playing drums without earmuffs.i play in a small room too ,so it was wise to purchase a pair.

    Anyone Else Wear Earmuffs?

Yea I wear my muffs from the range. They protect my ears and also make my drums sound a whole lot better. So while my wife is going insane and the neighbors dog is howling all night, all I hear are the sweet grooves im laying down.

Anyone who does not have them, should seriously invest in some. They're inexpensive, and they do make your drums sound cool, it's like a deep muffled sound, it's cool. I think they make like headphone ones, which is also cool.

Lol same here, I dont exactly know why the drums sound like your playing a perfectly tuned kit, but it does. Seriously, The toms sound perfect, no matter how out of tune they are, the snare sounds amazing, the only thing that dos'nt sound top line is the cymbals, unless they are top line.

    If you can't tell, I wear muff's.

I use the vic firth headphones when I'm by myself and the little squishy plugs when I'm with the band.

I bought some musician's earplugs and wear them whenever I'm listening to live music. I'll use them when I'm playing if I can't hook up my headphone monitor. Best gear investment ever...

I use isolation headphone from Vic Firth when I practice to music. I can adjust the volumn to where I can hear my playing and the music with no problems. Before I got them I used ear plugs which didn't work as well. I have known drummers who have suffered hearing loss that was from not using hearing protection while playing so it is a good idea to use something to protect from long term damage. I also used noise cancelling earbuds with my IPOD that work well.

The Vic Firth Isolation Headphones really does the trick for me, protects my ears and makes the drum sound very professional indeed! Hahaha!

A pair of cotton buds rolled up to fit my ear canal... They seem to do the trick but i'v only used them for when im practicing alone and not with a band... Thats largly coz i look like i have old people hair coming out of my ears, lots of them....

I've been practicing for years without but have started to get pissed with hurting my ears and bought a pair of these:

I would have liked to get some proper molded ear plugs with changeable filters but couldn't find anywhere round me that does them.

As an old guy who has some hearing loss due to loud concerts, loud sterios, gunfire, electric saws, and loud bikes, let me assure you how imprtant it is to protect your hearing. It's not replaceable. I'm a total ear plug nazi at our house. I make my kids wear hearing protection every time they play, no matter where they play. They wear "Mickey Mouse Ears" like these while practicing at home.

yes, i usually dont play otherwise.

I used to buy the really cheap ones at walmart 30 pairs for five bucks, and it would last me 2 months, now i buy some higher quality ones that are washable, for 12 bucks

no mate got the custom ue-7 pro ones
back when they where called the drummers inears
heaps of bass and crazy head room
heaps of dollars but its a once off buy that you will have forever
Than i recommend using a good quality headphone amp and a bass shaker if you want to go all out , dont worry about those expensive wired in ear systems from Shure
just a high quality headpone amp with a limiter sounds better and is cheaper
