Based on his signature, I'm going to guess it's a Gretsch snare...

Wow! There are some BEAUTIFUL works of art here.

    2. Questions

    1. Does anyone know the best way to conceal a small (5-6 mm) on the bass drum. The finish is exotic wood with a regal to royal blue fade. The actual color came across as a rich emerald green to lighter fade, due to the natural underlying hue to the wood grain (pics to come soon). The best advice i've been given so far is nail polish.......... maybe automobile paint?

    2. What are your thought on taking apart the kit to powder coat silver to lugs to black chrome (or possible even gold). I know a good powdercoater for vehicle rims and such. I don't think that I would include all of the hardware (stands and such) but it would really make it pop. Ive been inspired by some of the kits here.

I can't blame you for not wanting to gig that kit. It looks real nice though!

Lots of nice DW kits you guys have here.

This is my daily grind, it gets gigged a lot. I love it to death and play it for every ounce its worth.

I wish I had a better camera. These pics don't do the finish the justice it deserves.

Thanks. The kick is real low and punchy. The batter head is pretty loose and the resonant is medium tight. I'm not really brand loyal to much of anything, but I really love Aquarian heads. I always get the sound I'm looking for with them.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge. I've heard some kits that sound really good with thicker resonant's.

I just gotta say rmandelbaum and Scooter, you guys both have kits that are works of art, and not just the ones pictured on this page. Unbelievable!!

Exotic, nice looking kit too bro - I've not seen that finish before.

G-Mann, let me know when you're going out of town so I can come and get MY drums, er....I meant house sit for ya, yeah, that's it....you know, just to help ya out (that better be an attack monkey!).

The answer to the Photoshop question, at least my guess anyway

Under adjustments > Hue & Saturation, remove the color. This looks better the converting to grayscale.

Then create a layer and fill it and blur the edges.

That is my guess on what he did it.

Yeah, you can even do simple photoshopping like that on photobucket. I like that scooter's second pic a lot. But that mostly has to do with the angle of the shot. Having a ridiculously beautiful drum set helps too I guess. =P
