Cool thread!
I've had my kit for about 3 months. Bonham is my drum idol, so I plan to learn as much of his genius work as I can. I've got the book: 'Drum Techniques of Led Zeppelin' transcribed by Joe Bergamini. The first song I'm learning out of it is: 'What is and What should Never Be' from the Led Zeppelin II album (Atlantic 1969)
So far, I've about worked out the first page, and am starting the second page. It's not so bad - most of the work is on the hh, snare (some cross sticking) and bass. There is a very little bit of toms, but so far, not much. It's been a good choice for a first song for me, I think.

(Boy, am I going WAY back!!) lol...started playing when i was 12, then at about 24 years old, I discovered i could sing too (at the prodding of a friend/former band mate)....first song I learned to play AND sing was Alice In Chains' "No Excuses"....two and three part harmony all the way through the entire song.

Word to the wise : don't mess with the drummer.
First song "Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen... Very tough intro. I practiced and practiced getting the double kick pattern down, then added the toms for that "tribal beat" Alex Van Halen would be proud!!
truthfully, Sing Sing Sing acutally, i had to learn it for marching band...that was...fun
Takin Charge of the Guys...I love it!
