What about a thin piece of leather cut and put on the hoop?

I just clamp it on and dont worry about it. Yeeesh! It's a piece of wood! Kinda like complaining that the boat motor is leaving a mark where it is screwed onto the back of the boat. LOL!!!

    all the best...

I had a kit one time that came with a piece of grip-tape glued to the hoop... it eventually started coming off, but i just glued it back on. seemed to work pretty well

And I can assure you there is way more fun in playing a DW kit than dissing one.

But Bish, you have to remember...this is coming from a guy who can't figure out how to get his kick drum pedal hooked onto the hoop of his yammies while using the rubber hoop protector!

Now boys, if you can't play nice, I'll have to separate you and have you each sit in your own corner!

I buy sticky backed felt at a craft store. You can even get colors of you choose. I cut a small square and fold it over the hoop. It lasts for years and, protects the hoop and the pedal does not slip.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I purchased some Dr. Scholl's Moleskin and have enough to outfit all 3 of my bass drums.

So, Frank, thanks for the "old school" solution...
