Default DW 9000 deal

Man oh man. I almost pulled the trigger on this one.

DW 9002s on CL for $210. The caveat is they are missing the connecting rod assembly. They guy tells my it's $40 at GC. I call GC and find out the list price is $116, but I can have it out the door for $70. So for $280, I can own DW9000s.

Problem is I already committed to buying a friend's DW5002s for $200 so he took them off eBay. I was going to do the whole resell the 5000s plan, but cash flow would be tight while holding two sets of pedals.

Then I saw a pair of 5002's for $120!!!! They aren't as nice as the ones I am getting though and they look older. Still...

They're both good pedals. I actually prefer the 5000's though. The 9000's feel too heavy and bulky for my taste. They are very similar pedals though.

Decisions decisions. If the 5002's had the connecting rod assembly, they would resell in a minute with no problems. Without the rod would be a differant story. I have the 8002B longboards which are close to the 9002's. I'd go for the 9002's at that price no questions asked. Would be the last set you will buy. Then do what it takes to turn the 5002's over. Maybe your friend will understand and let you off the hook. If he invested in the rod assembly, he could sell them for upwards of $250.00 on a good day. Good luck.

xsabers, I guess all this hinges on how good this friend is, and whether he would understand if you needed to back out. You might tell him what you saw, and see how he reacts. You can always assure him that you made a commitment to him, and you will honor it.

If I were you friend, I'd completely understand you wanting to get the better pedals when it'll only cost you a bit a more in the end. It's not like he can't toss them back up on eBay. DW pedals will have no problem selling.

Thanks guys. I don't doubt he would understand but he had been out of town and we're only "forum friends" as it were. Never met him in person but he still was willing to take my word that I committed to buy them and remove the post from eBay. No cash has changed hands, but I feel my word is worth more than a deal on some pedals. If I had been able to contact him and ask, it would have been different. There will be other deals...(heck, I'm still pretty jazzed about getting the 5000's!) I've been playing a single 5000 for years now so I know it fits my style.

Yeah, I have played the Falcons and I would definitely buy them new over the 9000's new just as a matter of value for the $$. In fact, the reason I am getting the 5000's is because the original owner is upgrading to the Falcons. The Falcon doubles can be had for under $400 new. BEST NEW PRODUCT - WINTER NAMM 2010!

My plan is to develop my ability on doubles, then eventually pass on the 5000's to my son and snag some Falcons.

I almost pulled the trigger on 9000s but felt exactly the same ways as you did, thus the 5000A double pedal is in the "hot seat" as of now.

What's the difference between the 5000A and the 5002 double's?

I think your right. It looks like the designate the new double pedals as 5002, 9002, 7002, etc..

Most likely the same pedal as the 5000 double, 7000 double, etc...

Thanks for the verification! Good to know when shopping for used pedals...

If you go back though, there have been some upgrades to the 5000 series so vintage will matter.
