To all my drumming Companions.

Oh the desire I had for those White Marine Pearl Slingy drums in 1967. They reminded me of my Mother's lingerie (NOT).

43 years later I have a tender longing to find my old skins. Hopefully they are not as wrinkled as I am. The sensual feeling of sitting behind them again would be amazing. I will know them when I see them because I had the stupidity to paint the naked bearing edges pink, green and orange flourescent so they would glow with a black light.

After taking 40 years off from playing I may not be a Pastor, but I do know about Father Time. So, as the wife is feeding me oatmeal to keep me regular, I find out it is not like riding a bicycle - you do forget.

But, I am on a mission to find my old skins and learn to play the right way this time. In the meantime I am learning on a mixed bag of Slingerlands.

Oh what a sound they still are.

Okay, so thanks for allowing me to become a part of drum chat, it's always been a DESIRE of mine to know alot of fellow drummers who hold a TENDER spot in their hearts for playing music. I was sitting over at the laundry mat, washing my girlfriend's LINGERIE, and decided that i'd see if there were any drum forums out there, and TADA!!!! Here we are! So i look forward to chatting with as many as i can and whomever want to comment back. I will be thinking about what id like to post on this forum next time i am playing my kit quietly, in a SENSUAL manner. It's pretty early, i think im going to go eat some OATMEAL. Have a wonderful day!!!! HAHA!!!

J Byrd, I think this is the very first time that anyone has looked us up while washing the girlfriend's lingerie! Welcome to Drum Chat, and enjoy that oatmeal!

My first kit in the '80s was a Maxwin (Pearl) 5 pc. with open toms and kick drum (called it a bass drum back then). With blue hydraulic batters and no resos those things punched like a bowl of steel cut oatmeal. If drums had lingerie, so to speak, I dressed up mine by way of Yamaha hardware and Paiste cymbals.

That kit was set up in a detached garage with no insulation. The senual, percussive sounds that emitted from that space was not classified as tender by the neighborhood. I am fortunate however, no one ever expressed a desire for me to stop playing.

When that drumset went dorment, one of those neighbors knocked on the door with $400 cash in hand. I helped carry that kit out and never seen nor heard it again.

I don't know you, or (after reading this thread) have any desire to know you. OK I'm new......... One day I had a desire for a hot bowel of oatmeal, after it was prepared I sat on my throne to eat it, the first bite burned my tender tongue so bad I spilt my oatmeal all over my snare, my wife felt so bad she used her lingerie to wipe the oatmeal of my tender head Um drum head. She then told me how sensual she felt about wiping my head Um drum head. Thank you and I hope I passed the audition!
