Default Vic Firth Lite Stix Drumsticks

These are new this month over at Drum Bum: Vic Firth "Lite Stix" Drumsticks! I just think they're cool as hell. Who woulda thought that you would ever see a pair of drumsticks that you could plug in to a USB port! A bit pricey but I might try to talk DB into lettin' me "review" them. Maybe I'll get to keep the sample!

Now that's different! Does the USB plug-in power the lights on the tips?

I'm sure the USB port it just used to charge it.

How much is a bit pricy? Like something you could practice with, or for gigs only.

(That would be sweet at a gig, lights out, start rolling, a bar of rest, drum intro, lights on, band joins. Flippin' Sweet.)

I like the concept, but not the price. You would think with fiber optics there would be a cheaper way.........

Yeah...

I'm sure with a bit of know-how you could build your own.

EDIT:
Just saw a video, I thought the sticks lit up when you hit something with them. Hell, you could build a pair for like 10 bucks (and less knowhow than I imagined).

are these supposed to mic your kit better? what if you rip the cord out when your playing all the time, or break the sticks? im gonna wait till they're wireless or something, one hit and ill ruin the part where it goes in

Ok guys, I've seen them. I don't get to play with them because they'll get dented up but I think they look pretty good. They're about the size of a 2B and so that might help on the breaking front. You switch it on on the butt of the stick right next to the USB input. The switch is tiny! You have to use like your fingernail to get it to move. But the light up part is cool as hell. It gradually changes colors and seems pretty bright. It's just a light though not a laser beam like those other ones that were out for awhile.

I asked about warranty but its still vague. Apparently they're waiting on the warranty info. from Vic Firth. I would think Vic Firth would have made that available before releasing them to market. I don't know. The instructions that come with it say, "These sticks are designed and tested for normal drum set playing wear and tear." It left me wondering, "What is normal!" LOL

Anyway, charging is about 8 hours but it was already working when I turned it on. I don't think it was charged before they gave it to me so they must be slightly or all the way charged right out of the box.

I'm not buying the sticks right now as I don't really need them but I think they'd be cool for certain solos and all and I guess the coolest thing is that they are real drumsticks. You'll just want to (in my opinioin) bring them out now and then for solos or something and you DEFINITELY don't want to hit too hard with them or you might be out 130 smackaroonies on the first "crack!"

I don't know but I would think that Vic Firth would have done some pretty rigourous testing before they slapped their name on it. It does say in the instructions not to play with the butt end. Makes sense because that's where the switch and the USB input is.
