i love yamaha drums and saw all the other drum threads and decieded to post one. i have raven black stage custom noveaus in 10 12 14 20 14 sizes and my 12 is set up as a floortom to have a crossover config.

Sweet. I've been on the Yamaha bus for 10 or so years. I have Recording Customs in Teal (10, 12, 14, 18) and Beech Customs in Blueberry (8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 20, 14sn). I also have an 18 year old 14x5 Dave Weckl Snare (the old ones still had the brass Maple Custom Lugs). I love that drum and play out with it every weekend. I'll bet the finish matches your kit Christiandrummer.

Sound aside, I've used hardware from every major manufacturer and the Yamaha stuff has outlasted the lot of them. I'm always trying to lighten my stand case and the Yamaha stuff makes for versatile setups. The 10 year old single chain pedal I've beat up and abused and not treated nicely over the years always performs without complaint.

ya i love the yamaha hardware i have 2 700 series boom and a 800 series boom their insanely stable and i love the 700 pedal. with the super adjustable cam. and i want the dave weckl snare so bad the dual strainer sounds awesome and the finish and lugs match my kit. my current snare is nice i get great volume control and sound out of it

I've been playing Yamaha Tour Customs for a little over a year now. I have the 700 series hardware, which I chose because they're a lot lighter, and I gig this kit. But even though it's single braced hardware it's amazingly durable and easy to set up and break down. Until recently acquiring a Pearl Elminator hi hat stand, the Yamaha hi hat stand was my hands down favorite. I also use an FP 9315 dual chain pedal with my Mapex kit, and I love that pedal!

Ahoy, gents! I 've had a first-generation Stage Custom in Raven Black since 1998, 10-12-14-16-22, and a Maple Custom Absolute first generation since 2001 in 10-12-14-22. My single stands are 800 series (second generation) and I cannot say enough god things about the WS903 triple tom stands.

i play a yamaha at school for the jazz band but at home i play a pearl vision vsx but i play like classic rock the jazz at school is for somthing to do

Christiandrummer - you will not regret a Weckl snare. A bit pricey, and bottom head changes suck, but well worth it. I've had mine for 18 years and I'm taking it out for a gig tonight. Also, no matter what quality level kit you have, the bass drum is going to sound great.

I was just wondering what Yamaha models do you hate and why so? I know that every model of drums might not be for everyone, but I would just like you to expand on your statement to know exactly what you don't like about Yamaha. This might help someone else who might be considering Yamaha drums.

just kidding...lol. drums, pianos, saxaphones, electronic keyboards....watercraft. you name it, yamahas high end japaneese made products are some of the best crafted in the world. altho a little pricey.

When I was pro, My last kit was a Beech Custom in a red apple finish. Beautiful!

Now I'm getting back into playing again, I wanted a fairly cheap kit, got a Yammaha Gigmaker. Can't imagine there's a better kit for the money.

I can't think of anything they don't make well, including all of their concert percussion. Maybe the guitars aren't that great.

Yammy 9000 recording custom in hot red, i got it in around 1982 , 700 series hardware solid and light to lug about, its a thing a beauty, gorgeous sound, bullet proof and reliable, unlike the women in my life.

I tapped a bit on one at the last PASIC convention. They sounded nice. In all the ads I've seen, it always in the finish below. Call me crazy, but I don't really care for it.

At $5,700 for a 4 piece shell pack, it falls into my "if I win the lottery" category. Nice eye candy, though.

Yeah, I'm not wild about that finish either. And if I had $5700 to spend on a 4pc shell pack I'm afraid there are an awful lot of options out there!
