Got my 14"x20" Club Date Bass drum all fixed up. Using it with a classic 8"x12" and 16"x16" Classic toms. Played it for the first time like this a couple weeks ago and they sounded really good.

    Hi folks!

I'm thinking about adding a Ludwig snare drum to my collection. Specifically, an acrolite in brushed aluminum. Can you give me any information on it? Please tell me about the 5x14 as well as the 6.5x14. Also, what can I expect to pay for these drums? I would like to purchase new.

    Your input is appreciated!

If you are buying new, all you have to do is Google it and check eBay for new pricing. As far as adding an Acrolite, you should play some and make sure it's a sound you want. I have never found it to be a sound I want or need. Snares are certainly a personal choice and not to be bought for the sake of buying a specific model. Buy one for the sound if that's the sound you want. I have seen many people buy a specific snare model because others like it only to be dissatisfied with it for their applications.

Thanks Olimpass. Coming from such a loyal Ludwig drummer such as yourself, that's a big compliment.

Wow that's an amazing kit.. The fiberskyn reso goes perfectly with the aesthetic of the hoop. Looks very playable too, easy to reach everything - no extra stuff you don't need, either.

That is one classy kit Rich! Reminds me of a library house kit.

I think every old historical library needs a good solid house kit.

Thanks DC! We're looking forward to seeing your project get underway. I'm glad you decided to go the restoration route. The aging of the wood shells is something I often forget about until I jump on this kit.

Gotta love the Vintage Bronze hardware.

Fibraskin reso heads are an awesome look!

    Proudly playing:
    Doc Sweeney Drums
    A bunch of snares
    A bunch of cymbals

    Off-Set double pedals

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!

I have the fiberskyn heads in mind for the vintage 20's Ludwigold bass drum (batter side) and the vintage Ludwig Super Swing snare I have posted a few pages back. I think they would look great because they emulate calfskin heads.
