    Default Brand spanking new Yamaha vibraphone...ain't I a happy-chappie?

Yep, finally, after what seemed like ages I finally paid off and picked up this beautiful sounding instrument, my first ever vibraphone. I wanted to have some clear sounding video footage, however the natural vibrato of this instrument seems to distort the built-in microphone on my lil' camera, but once I figure a way record some decent sound, I'll get some samples up (also it will give me a chance to get familiar with the instrument a bit more.

Anyway, as they say on here..."pics or it didn't happen".....enjoy.

My grandmother played a vibraphone - just in the privacy of her own home. She learned to play it in her 60's.

Very nice looking vibraphone drumbledore. I can't wait to hear you playing it!

They create a sound I can only describe as "angelic". I imagine there is a bit of piano logic involved in the playing of it. With two mallets in each hand, chords can be played.

    all the best...

Most certainly you have to think with piano logic. I'm going through a bunch of instructional videos at the moment. You have to think like a cross between a piano player and drummer, and this particular instrument, because of the sustained notes that can be played, can great for playing simple and complex chords as well as single note melodies.

Oh man, I have so much to learn on this!

    That is NICE !

    I'm insanely jealous.

Played them for a few years in music school and I also have one song on a CD where I play vibes and drums (obviously, not at the same time).

I've always played MUSSER but would love to hear your Yamaha.
